Mike Leach accepted the UT Job, then we withdrew the offer... Let that sink in

Because he's a professional, much like the coach.

Interesting that you would take this position as one of the biggest coach defenders on the board. I disagree with it either way, but it must be ok to bash the players unless you earn a salary to do it.

So because I choose to lay blame on both players and coaches, that means I am just a coach defender huh?

Dak realized that he and his teammates didnt execute the gameplan and play up to their potential. And he called it. I mean they failed to do much against a Saints team that didnt have Brees. They should have drilled the Saints. But they didnt. Why? Because both the players and coaches failed.

Its hilarious to see you and some other just hammer on about oh the HC makes millions so he is the only one responsible. You continue to be proven wrong time and time again.

Not sure how I've been proven wrong, or even how I could be. It's an opinion. It's subjective. I cannot find a way to blame a student athlete for being put into a position to fail. That falls on the shoulders of a multi-millionaire expert on the subject of football. His development, his scheme, his coaching. And when he succeeds at a high level, or fails, he'll take his skills elsewhere. That kid will likely stay here, graduate, and identify with this University for the rest of his life.

I see it as different when you're talking about the Professional ranks. They shoulder more of the responsibility...they are no longer learning. Their entire job, quite literally, is to execute and play football....and they often get paid more than the coach to do it.

But how are these players being put into positions to fail? Look at the GS game. If both sides of the ball play up to their ability, we smoke them. The players didnt and we lost. JG easily left 2-3 TDS on the field. Did the coaches call a great game? No. But they called well enough to win.

Like when the defense is lining up wrong. Why are they doing it? So Pruitt and Ansley don’t know how a defense is supposed to look? Does that really make sense given their experience? No it doesn’t and you know it. You think they are calling plays during games that they have never practiced? The coaches absolutely have to do a better job. But so do the players and that’s my major point.

Coaching....or lack thereof.

If a guy can’t line up correctly, find somebody who will....even if he’s not as good of a player. Coaching requires teaching, motivating, and scheming.

Who cares anything about Mike Leach? What has he ever won? Conference Championships? National Titles? The crushes make me nauseous.

I like him but he's not the right coach for us. For one thing, his defenses just don't cut it. In truth, he's Muschamp 2.0 in terms of his top ceiling. He'd probably average 8 wins a season with one or two 9's or 10's once in a great while.

I can blame coaching if it appears obvious that players aren't prepared and aren't being put in positions to be successful. In the Georgia St game, our defense couldn't get lined up properly and played as if they've never seen a speed option before. Deandre Johnson said after the game that Georgia St was doing stuff offensively that they didn't practice against or see on film. JG made a very similar comment about Georgia St's defense. The coaching staff rolled with something like 20 different offensive line combos. The coaching staff simply did not put the players in spots to be successful in that game, and it is embarrassing that it even mattered, because we are so much more talented than them. Being unsure about where to line up, or seeing a bunch of stuff in games that you didn't get a good look at in practice, is primarily on coaching, IMO.

The BYU and Florida games I think are a different story. I think the coaching staff actually called a good game against BYU, and the defense played good in spots against Florida.

The question was asked of you just prior. You answered and I responded as well.

Sorry if it was out of turn.

It wasn't asked of me, I just answered. I answered "probably" because everything with Leach is "probably" because we don't know because he's not here. He's not here. I'll never understand why some of you can't move on. He's not here. We don't know what he would do here, but my answer was correct. Yours is pretty much the same as mine.

I got all night, if you wanna discuss this in more detail. What if Mike Leach was here and was 3-1 right now and said the things about our player that he said about his after the Florida loss? What would be your opinion on that? Notice I said "would be", its hypothetical because he's not here.

I answered that hypothetical earlier in the thread. It would not be ok with me....it’s a bad look, and he was out of line.

You seem hostile again.

Tennessee’s recruiting budget is over 2 million.

Washington State’s is a bit over $500,000.

Pullman is in the middle of nowhere, it’s closer to Idaho than it is to the capital of Washington. I imagine, with that kind of budget, recruiting to that school is hard as hell. It’s not like Texas Tech was a thriving metropolis but at least they had HS players in the state.

He certainly has gotten a lot of his QB’s to the NFL and most weren’t highly rated and most don’t fit the prototypical height for an NFL QB.

What if he had the resources that come with the UT job? I guess he wanted the job in large part for that very reason.

He lost to Utah last week, they have the largest recruiting budget in the PAC and that is still a million dollars behind UT.

Hostile? Again? Haha, what difference does it make anyway? Seems you get uncomfortable being honest and resort to insults. And Idgas.

If Leach had done that here, you would not be okay with it, but you wouldn't cry about it the way you do with "Cornbread" because he would be winning. I know, you don't have to say it.

But we'll never know, because he's not here. Lol.

No...there was no equivocating in my answer...if he did it here, winning or not, I would have a huge problem with it. The premise of him being here was not mine, but one I would certainly prefer over our current situation.

Nothing you do it say makes me uncomfortable, I just don’t understand the change in you. You were previously, eh, not so hostile.

Yet cant get any looks from big time programs. Keep up the Leach delusion though.

Why dont many want to give Pruitt that long?
I assume one reason is because he’s never been a successful HC before and is seemingly in over his head. Another might be that he’s only ever been a role player on already successful teams with high level talent, and has never had to actually build a program or develop players.

That’s what some people might say.

I understand. I understand the hypocrisy as well. You don't approve of throwing the student athletes under the bus, unless we're winning.

Okay, I'm whatever you want or dont want me to be, oppositional, obtuse, hostile and whatever you meant by not arrogant, Lol. Unless I'm name calling or cussing, I don't see what difference it makes. If it bothers you, stop responding to me. I wasn't talking to or about you.
