This can't be said enough. Everyone is ready to fire [INSERT WHOEVER THE CURRENT COACH IS HERE AFTER TWO OR THREE LOSING SEASONS], but just review Leach's history at Washington State. He took over a team that was 4-8 the previous year and took them back a step to 3-9. Sure he picked it up to 6-7 with a bowl LOSS his second year, but then right back to 3-9 in year 3.
If that were the scenario here, the VN boards in Years 1 through 3 would have looked something like this, respectively: Fire him, he's worse than the last guy; Okay, wait, maybe we wrong, let's give him a chance, we're back, baby!; No, we were right, fire him!
But Washington State stuck with someone they knew was a good coach and just needed time (granted he had experience as a head coach, which CJP is currently getting) and the next year 9-4 and have won at least 8 games every year since.
Maybe CJP never gets the hang of the HC thing, maybe he does and we've got another Kirby Smart situation on our hands. All I'm saying it, ultimately, Phil Fulmer is not the type that's going to bow to Vol Twitter Storm and will keep CJP as long as he thinks it is the best thing for UT. Of course we want to win. Of course we're pissed off. But all the FIRE HIM FIRE HIM FIRE HIM talk really isn't going to help anything, especially not in year two. I guarantee you as unhappy as you are, everyone in the homes of these coaches is even less happy--and I say that as the son of and brother to head football coaches.
Now, let me duck behind my riot shield before the rocks get hurled at me...
