Mike Hamilton Says

Frost would be good with me. I can't believe the people poo-pooing this news, like there are any better candidates out there, and Frost would save this recruiting class, including Mays.

bill clark at uab has taken a team in its first year from a two year death sentence to 7-3 and is bowl eligible with whatever players he could find. in year 1. This is an incredible feat! The man can coach.

He also beat southern miss 30-12. Butch beat southern miss with 4 & 5 star players 24-10. clark will be a p-5 coach very soon.

has not played any team thats won anything

Gruden is a fine coach, but college is a different animal. He’s never dealt with those responsibilities. These are students, not professionals. Plenty of folks understand this. The tribalism associated with the idea of him coming here and being the next Saban prevents you from seeing the facts.

Believe this.

Mullen, Kelly, Frost and Norvell are the probably the top targets.

Kiffin was supposed to be the big splash hire, Dooley was sadly brought in hurriedly due to Kiffin bolting. Dooley was THE bad hire.

Jones came outta nowhere because he was one of the few left standing and sold his vision. He wanted the job and had some success.

Jones cleaned this up and got some talent on the roster but time revealed his short comings.

Next guy needs to lift our program to new levels. Only so many have that talent and still remain in college football.

Scary about Frost being a potential candidate. Yes I know he is winning, but what level of coaching is he playing against. Can he beat a Kirby Smart, Dan Mullens, Urbin Myers or based upon our current record anybody in the SEC ? It's one thing to be the big fish in a small pond but can you survive in the ocean and thrive ?

Frost what has he done, just the hot name playing no major teams. He would be totally rejected as a major hire. Nope!

I’m not saying he’d be the right guy here, but I sincerely think Frost is gonna win at a big school in the near future.

To be fair to Tony, he clearly stated that this was a text from a friend of his that he knew to be close to Mike Hamilton, that the source was a Marine (so he was confident that the source wasn't lying to him), and this is third hand information about who Mike Hamilton (who may or may not actually know anything) was saying Tennessee would hire. He didn't report it as "this is what's going to happen." Tony is a fan like us, and spent 7 hours on the air today talking with listeners about the coaching firing/hiring, which is a great public service to our fan base.

As far as Frost goes, he is pretty close to this year's Tom Herman, with a similar caliber of suitors as Herman had last year. Nebraska is where he played (after transferring there from Stanford), but that's no certainty that it is his "dream job" anymore than Tennessee is for Tee Martin. What's more, Nebraska is ready to fire Mike Riley this year, if Frost doesn't take a job there and chooses Tennessee, then we should feel pretty good that he isn't going to Nebraska any time in the foreseeable future.

Everyone has to start somewhere. He may be facing middle of the road teams, but he's also doing it with same level players. I think dude can coach.

Every option on the list has question marks...even, or especially, Gruden. Some folks want that risk to be known ahead of time. Others want the exciting new face and we can determine the negatives later.

As much as we like to rate and predict, none of us really know how anyone will do. If we could predict that, we wouldn't have so many failures.

I personally like Petersen, Frost, Mullen and Venables...in that order...but would love the ride if it were Gruden.

Does Scott have any eligibility left.

You lost me at Mike Hamilton says. I’m pretty sure Brian Williams has more credibility than him. That being said Scott Frost would be homerun hire and he is a future star in the making. Alas based on UT recent hires I fully expect to be disappointed with an overpaid Les Miles.

If Basilio says it, he made it up because making up stories is much easier than having actual contacts or doing show prep. And that is his history.

If Hamilton says it, it would be a terrible mistake because he could not have destroyed the UT Athletic Dept more completely if that had been his stated purpose. Getting rid of Butch is the final step in getting the Hamilton stench off the UT Athletic program.

so he has a 9-0 season at UCF...OK...look at who they play. Before that coordinator positions at Oregon...not a good conference...Nothing like the SEC. He hasn't had any jobs in the SEC period. He's has coordinator in the SEC written all over him before a HC at a major school. This will be a bad hire...why do we always hire these 'up and comer' coaches. It never works out.

Look at who he has to play with. It's not like he has a team full of 5 stars. He's playing with a bunch of kids that no power 5 teams wanted.

I understand that but it's 3 star kids playing 3 star kids. He hasn't played any power 5 schools on that schedule. Memphis is the closest thing to decent.

Wrong. CFU and South Florida clean up a lot of talent that can't meet academic requirements at larger conferences.
Kiffin is doing the same thing at FAU.
