Frost is the flavor of the moment, and they don't always do very well when promoted to bigger jobs at bigger programs. He become the next Saban--who knows--but he certainly hasn't done much more than have one or two good years at a mid-major. Hire him and you're doing nothing but taking a flyer on the guy. I'd rather have someone with more experience--but I'd also prefer younger to someone too old like Les Miles.
110%first, im a memphis fan. But for the life of me, i cant figure out this fascination some of you have with gruden. He hasnt coached in at least 10 years, he has no current recruiting pipeline or staff, and, to my knowledge, has never been a college head coach. He sounds good while doing football commentary but so does gene chizik and tommy bowden. Imo, youd be much better off with frost, if you can keep floridas hands off of him.
Frost took over a 0-12 UCF team and took them to a bowl in year 1. Now in his 2nd season he has them in position to go to a new years 6 bowl. But yeah he isn't any good, is he?
There is no doubt that someone like Mullen or Fuente would make a good coach, but if Gruden declines, Frost is my first choice.
Like others have said, he is the one I would fear the most if he was hired by Florida. That tells me all I need to know.
Bill Clark at UAB has taken a team in its first year from a two year death sentence to 7-3 and is bowl eligible with whatever players he could find. in year 1. This is an incredible feat! The man can coach.
He also beat Southern Miss 30-12. Butch beat Southern Miss with 4 & 5 Star players 24-10. Clark will be a P-5 coach very soon.
Because his wife was a cheerleader at UT. Oh they have land in Severville and their son goes to UT. He won a Super Bowl too and has never recruited any players whatsoever. Hasnt coached in over 10 years so all that qualifies him to make $10mil a year.
