Just read through this thread and UNNECESSARY redundant shots are not hard to pick out, I saw the look on his face after the miss, it was gut wrenching.

Problem gets complicated when the calculation is others can do it better than him. But what if the best alternatives or their support groups have to ponder putting a player in OUR lineup. They can run a comparative risk/reward analysis for all their offers. IF IF IF we are the worst….,, how can a group of fans put that in play? Not run of the mill, everybody has them fan reaction but world class bad fan reaction. Read back through this thread if you have the time and the stomach.

I could think of alot things Tennesee done wrong.Max Gilbert don't need to be called out the dude tries.I like to see anyone in here be a kicker. I played football unlike lots of you. I would not be a kicker and neither would lots of u.The defense and play calling to me is crap right now. THIS TREAD NEEDS DELETED.

Not with kickers. A kicker’s success usually comes down to confidence. Max lost his, had a chance to get it back, and didn’t. From a coaching standpoint, it’s mostly mental and helping him to focus on the basics like alignment. After that, it’s all muscle memory. 80 % of every kick is the snap and hold. UT has a kid snapping at a sub .25 on 8 yards and he has had the same holder the last two year. Max needed the UGA kick to go through, he’d be having a completely different year, and so would the team.

In golf, it's called the yips. Better to reset somewhere else IMO.

Does it decide how coaches call plays in a game knowing their kicker can't hit between the uprights?

We both know the answer and we know it affects how defenses play as well as opponent offenses. You need that weapon to play with the big boys.

He's been paid well to miss a lot of field goals. Wish him well at a lower level.

When the snap and hold are perfect, you make the kick.

With a real kicker we would have beaten Georgia just like Ole Miss just did. But Instead we have Max Gilbert who looked like he was about to throw up and pass out when he was going in to miss the potential game winner.

Are you Max’s mom? The kid chokes. He’s the ELEVENTH most accurate kicker in the SEC this year. He can kick rocks. We need a portal kicker.

That kid was hitting bombs last night. The 47 yarder to win the game was dead center and would've been good from 60+. It hit 3/4 up the net!

Several posters on here were talking about how "far" the 43 yarder was that Gilbert missed vs. UGA. 43 yards is a chip shot for any D1 kicker.

Max may try hard, but unfortunately he is not good. If CJH does not replace him going into 2026, then I will seriously be on the fence on his capability to coach this team.
