In case you forgot, Debord was mentioned for a spot on the staff when Butch came. If Jake had not came as OC he would have likely been OC then.

You can't reasonably feel comfortable about him as a potential hire though can you? I realize I'm assuming you're free and intellectually able to form your own decisions, but seriously, just your base gut feeling can't feel overly excited about this hire can it?

And Im not saying Debord is the right hire now; I dont know enough to answer that.
Im just saying that I will give whoever Butch hires a chance to prove coach right or wrong with his choice, whether its Debord or Peyton Manning or Ricky Lynn Tidwell.....

and by the way Count, the fanbase IS energized more now than at any time in the last decade.......this hire will not change that during the off season.

I'm confident that if put in CBJ's shoes I would make the wrong hire. I'm also confident that CBJ realizes that if he drops the ball he will lose his multi million dollar job.

Again, let's wait and see may he not hire Debord as the OC.

Energize the fanbase? I thought we were beyond the days of using a hire to energize the fan base.

If we have to crank up (energize) the fan base with a Staff hire then we are in sad shape. Sal was the last time we did that it didn't work out, did it. Also had a coach that couldn't coach.

Hires at this point are not about energizing the fan base. If fans need to be energized with a hire they are not much of a fan and have no faith in this team or the players on it.

We need to move on past this, there are no more staff saviors out there, they are staffs that come and go. We have different players, better and more talented, a system, better team speed and a better culture.

Bring whoever in at a staff position and if he doesn't do his job replace him.

We are beyond and much better than hiring an assistant coach to energize a fan base and if we have to do that to energize the fan base then we don't need a HC.

Does it really matter who he hires? I get it that in some situations it may, but since CBJ was an offensive coordinator (and a good one at that) I'm pretty sure most of what any OC will do is call plays that are already in the playbook.

Whoever Butch hires, this fan base will be as energized as it has been in many many years. Also, how many people had to google Butch Jones when he was hired? A lot, and you see how that's worked out. Just trust Butch, he knows a hell of a lot more than anyone on this site.

Remember when everyone was freaking out over loosing Jay Graham...we will be fine, Butch knows what he's doing.

Lol you can't be serious right? Of course it matters. From recruiting to practice to gameday. Jones is the head coach, not OC. If we are putting the whole offense on him, this changes the whole dynamic of the team.

You do realize that if Butch goes 5-7 next year he will have won 1 more game than Dooley with far better players. This hire could easily cost him his job and if he f's it up I hope he gets exactly what he deserves. I want him to win but I will lose all hope if Debord is hiring.

After where we were when he was hired to where we are now, yall still won't trust Butch. Lol guess he has to win a Natty just to make some think he knows what he's doing

Sure I am. I highly doing they are going to be changing the offensive scheme for someone new. It may be tweaked a tad, but that's about it.

So why aren't any other schools looking at him for OC? Why hasn't he held the position for so long? This goes beyond the fanbase. I realize that's over some of the heads here on VN.

Keep in mind, some of the same people who are so upset at the prospect of DeBord assured us that Jancek would be Butch's downfall.
