Looking more and more like DeBord will be the new OC

The more I have researched Debord the more this makes perfect sense and has me ready to support with excitement. Debord was successful in an OC role when he had talent, like any OC....but also brings a wealth of knowledge for our Oline, knows recruiting and Tightends. I could see co coordinators with Azzani, helping with OL and us bringing in a QB guru to govern our passing game. This would solidify our OL and give Debord the athletes he needs to be successful.

Sure I am. I highly doing they are going to be changing the offensive scheme for someone new. It may be tweaked a tad, but that's about it.

He still has to handle the role and responsibilities of OC. You are acting like Butch is just going to take over everything.

I could also see CBJ going to a Co-cordinator modeled after what Rich Rod did last year at Arizona with CZA being passing game cordinator and Debord managing the running game.

So why aren't any other schools looking at him for OC? Why hasn't he held the position for so long? This goes beyond the fanbase. I realize that's over some of the heads here on VN.

First of all, no one knows what other schools are looking for. Just because something isn't in the media doesn't mean it isn't true. Second of all, this guy was hired twice as OC and looked at as a head coach for Michigan and was almost hired by Fulmer here, so it's not like he's been at tiny schools, including some stops in the NFL. Finally, he's a huge influence to Butch as he was his head coach at CMU when he was OC, so I want someone familiar with Butch who he wants. If you can't just trust Butch at this point i dont know what to tell you.

Legg would be a good hire. Does not have to be a home run hire necessarily, just not a piece of **** hire like Debord. God I wish we had less idiotic sheep fans like you.

I would consider the idiotic reaction to be the one that many who didn't even know who DeBord was until they found out how about how upset they should be. (From others on VN) Its ridiculous for people to demand so much information on a potential football hire.

Correct me if I'm wrong since I've not seen anyone mention it, but wasn't he the OC at Michigan when Apps St best them in Ann Arbor?

You did see the story behind that that the players partied the night before because they thought it would be an easy win. Players who started said they were still partially HIGH and some had hangovers. So...idk if its his fault or not lol

Lol I'm definitely gonna remember this when we have one of the most potent offenses in the SEC next year.

DeBord has line experience at the NFL level, a recruiting edge, maybe?

We are going to have to trust CBJ at some point on his decisions and not second guess until we are proven wrong.

We need to let him go with his plan. If he fails then we fire him at the appropriate time, however to raise these doubts and questions before the hire is made or before the first scrimmage or the first play of the season is just dumb.

At this point and As fans, we have no say no authority and no reason to cast any doubt or gloom and doom on any potential hire.

It is irresponsible as a fan not to trust the Coach that is in the process of successfully bringing us out of the mess, ashes, and basement we were in for the past 7 seasons.

That is correct. Michigan lost 34-32 when a last second 37 yard possible game winning fg was blocked. Michigan racked up 479 yards, 23 1st downs, and 32 points, and lost. So, Debord should have kept the field goal from being blocked, and the upset wouldn't have happened. It was all his fault.

The biggest problem I have with him is him not coaching in 3 years and him not being an OC in 7. How can you say you're okay with that?

Or you do like some did when we hired DD, and know from the beginning that he sucked and would fail miserably.

I wonder who Alabama would have hired if Kiffin would have left for SF ?
Probably not someone who had ever worked with Saban before. When he left Mich. State for the LSU job, he sent a plane to East Lansing to bring his assistants with him. None would get on the plane.

Of course, this was before he had won Natl Championships and had enjoyed a tremendous amount of success. It was before he was Nick Saban. People will work for him now for a while to pad their resume, and then move on.

Well lets start with the fact that the guy most want, Azzani, has 1 year at Western Kentucky as an OC... Also, its not like you just completely forget what you did to win a NC and go 52-11 as an OC at Michigan with a legendary coach that hired him two times.

You're not giving our fans due credit

Debord wouldn't be on a list of ANY college for OC. Only at UT

Jones is his only friend thats why --- it is looking like a political hire IMO -- you know, the way politicans hire friends even though they are clueless about the job they get hired for.

Not I, but would Saban hire someone like Debord ? Oh wait they have plenty of big money to shell out and UT doesnt

lol, well to start off, yes, they have a 10X bigger reserve than we do at the moment since, ya know, they've won 3 recent National Championships. Second of all, who the hell knows or cares what Saban would do. I care about what Butch will do.
