Looking more and more like DeBord will be the new OC

I will correct my statement to read " failed to be retained".
I wonder why you wouldn't keep him coaching at least TE's with his vast professional experience at this position?
The new coach generally cleans house and brings in people with whom he is familiar, and has worked with in the past. Happens pretty much every time. Wouldn't you want to hire someone who you knew you could work with, rather than take a chance?

Because we don't want Elder to fall under. "Failed to be retained"? :dunno:

What's weird to me is Butch didnt give anybody else a chance. This happened in two days and debord has been here since friday. Even if he knew all along this was the guy it wasn't like the guy was going anywhere. He loves Michigan and works a desk job there. Just odd nobody else got a shot and there's some really good spread OCs with butch jones ties out there.

The biggest problem in all this IMO is we don't have a QB coach.

This x1000

Remember when Dooley had a GA coaching RBs? We couldnt get legit interest from any RBs. I suspect if we hire DeBord, Nick Sheridan will oversee QBs. I think Azzanni leaves and we are searching for a WR coach.

It's part of the role of being a fan. If I'm just supposed to blindly follow along, Dools and Hamilton are probably still here. Nothing worse than people that come in, provide no insight to the board and tell me I can't question things.

Whats the difference? You're blindly making assumptions based on your less than limited knowledge of the subject. Plenty of coaches have hired Debord for some reason are they morons?

I didn't assume anything. I simply questioned if it was a good hire.

If you are serious, given what he has done in two years from the dumpster fire he inherited, that "at best" "WE" are in wait and see made (I think you meant Mode) on whether Butch was a good hire, then you sir are way way yonder beyond any hope of ever being content/satisfied as a Vol Fan......I
very sad to see this type of mentality among our "fans".
Negativity breeds negativity. Gotta go get some fresh air.

We may not be able to afford to fire him for four years, but if he doesn't get it done in he next two then all the air will go out of the balloon and he'll be gimping along playing out the string. He can't afford to screw this up.

Some fail to recognize how far this team had fallen. It may or may not be a 4 year fix. A change at the 4 year mark unless it is the exceptional hire would be a disaster.

Plus you have to let all of Jones' plan play out and only a few possibly know what the initial plan was when he was hired.

IMO whatever time line he gave Hart it will be honored and if it was 6 years it will be done unless something major has happened.

In 2 years, what has CBJs done to terminate his contract. Nothing. What has he done above and beyond his contract, plenty. Its not just about wins and loses, it is also about the other areas, APR, discipline, competitiveness, culture and the list goes on, but the bottom line is that he is building and not destroying or allowing it to sit idle in its on mess.

Sorry it is not at the speed that some fans would like, but at least it is a thorough job and being done correctly.

This is what scares me!
If his time as a position coach for TE's in the nfl isn't indicative of someone you want to keep at least for your TE's coach, what would indicate that he is ready to be coach of the whole offensive show at tennessee!

I understand your point, but it can be viewed in different ways.

My point is that the head coach should make personnel decisions. He would seem to be more qualified than a bunch of guys on the internet. He certainly knows the situation better than I do. I have NO suggestions on who should be hired.

I am not qualified to answer that question now; thats my whole point. Cause nobody else on here is either.
the question is, when the hire is made, was Butch and the people on the inside satisfied.

Why is he on no one else's radar and working as a desk jockey. Has to be a home run hire. If wish fans like you would GTFO.

So I clearly mentioned he's pushed forward, but to pretend like a 7-6 season has us where we're supposed to be is just asinine. Stay outside.

What qualifies people like you and Count to determine what reasonable is? Are you a million dollar D1 coach with your career on the line? Have you led a team of young men into anything other than Sunday school? It's his career on the line, we're just fans, I would suspect CBJ is fully aware of the magnitude of this hire.

If he's fully aware, then he is fully aware that putting a name like Debord at the top of your list isnt going to energize the fanbase.

I bet 90% of our fans had to Google him to know who the heck he was.

On top of that, if Jones is considering Debord, he is considering a candidate with less overall OC coaching experience than Bajakian.

Well qualified , competent NFL and college assistants lose their jobs every year.

Actually, UM is my second team and was present during the 97 UM/OSU matchup at the big house where Woodson solidified his heisman.

Who is your home run hire zehr?

And for the record, I wish negative know it all fans like you would get the FO yourself!
We dont need you and your negative waves in this program! Thats my opinion. You certainly can have yours. Stay miserable man!
