Because we are tired of wait and see, wait until next year, hopefully it works out, diamond in the rough, has potential, and all the other BS that comes with mediocre hiring
Losing to Florida, Alabama, and Georgia every year is much tougher

Just for the record,
On February 1, 2013, DeBord was hired by Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon to be the sports administrator for the school's Olympic sports teams. In this role he works with the field hockey, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's track and field, and men's and women's tennis programs.
i agree but not a whole lot we can do about it. This is not just on Jones, it stems back to 4 coaches with staff changes.
It now firmly rests on his shoulders and he appears to be closing the gap that the others created. In doing so, he is fixing other areas as well. Academics, discipline, recruiting and the lists goes on and on.
We have been saying wait till next year long before CBJ and staff arrived. We will continue until we do get here no matter who the coach is.
Difference is that CBJ is fixing more thuan the others ever even addressed.
Yes but he was only a TE position coach.
He has not been significantlyon the recruiting trail in a decade.
He also was let go at both of his stops at position coach, and was not play calling at either.
Now at his administrative job at Michigan the new coaching staff didn't even think enough of his abilities to reintroduce him into being a position coach (even TE!) much less play calling.
He has a great resume, just ancient history. I can't imagine him being the one to play call us into sec prominence.
I will correct my statement to read " failed to be retained".You said that he "was let go at both of his stops at position coach," but that is extremely misleading. He was hired my Mike Holmgren to the Seahawks staff in 2008, retained by Jim Mora when he took over in 2009 , after Mora fired 6 other Holmgren coaches and retained Debord.
He was let go from the Seahawks in 2010 when Pete Carroll took over as head coach, and named one of his former USC assts to the job held by Debord.
Then Debord was hired by the Bears , where he worked for 3 years until Mark Trestman was hired as head coach, and he promptly fired the staff, and replaced them with people who he had worked with previously.....Kromer, Cavanaugh, Peete, Bischoff, Meyer, and Tibesar.
Debord was not let go by anyone who hired him. He was the victim of head coaching changes, where the new head coach hired people with whom he has worked previously. They all have their guys who they trust, and want to work with.
Good thing coach Jones doesnt have to take advice from everyone on here!
He would never be able to find Jake's replacement!
He knows this is an important hire, and I trust him to do what he thinks is best for the program. Rather than be negative, whichever way it goes, why not wait to see how it plays out with our recruits, our current players and staff, and on the field results in the OW game. Is that too much to ask of our fanbase?

At best we're in wait and see made on that. So Count's post still rings truer than ever. If we can't make a reasonable hire after what we've accomplished, when will we do it?
What qualifies people like you and Count to determine what reasonable is? Are you a million dollar D1 coach with your career on the line? Have you led a team of young men into anything other than Sunday school? It's his career on the line, we're just fans, I would suspect CBJ is fully aware of the magnitude of this hire.
