lol, well to start off, yes, they have a 10X bigger reserve than we do at the moment since, ya know, they've won 3 recent National Championships. Second of all, who the hell knows or cares what Saban would do. I care about what Butch will do.
The more I have researched Debord the more this makes perfect sense and has me ready to support with excitement. Debord was successful in an OC role when he had talent, like any OC....but also brings a wealth of knowledge for our Oline, knows recruiting and Tightends. I could see co coordinators with Azzani, helping with OL and us bringing in a QB guru to govern our passing game. This would solidify our OL and give Debord the athletes he needs to be successful.
It's not brain surgery. It's football. You know, blocking and tackling. Generally, the team that executes best, and doesn't make mistakes, wins. That is , provided equal talent. The biggest problem I have with him is him not coaching in 3 years and him not being an OC in 7. How can you say you're okay with that?

Or you do like some did when we hired DD, and know from the beginning that he sucked and would fail miserably.

If every player executes his job properly, it shouldn't be that hard to call 3 plays that will go 10 yards. Do that a few times, and you have a touchdown. Do that a few times, and you score a bunch of points.
This thread has the potential to be legendary if this guy works out, like he did twice at Michigan.
What type of offense did he run at Michigan?
Clue: it wasnt a read option spread
While OC at Michigan, his QBs had combined rushing of -330 yards rushing
Yet, you're going to hire him to run a read option offense. Seems legit
Some of you think it's a great hire bc of what he did 20 yrs ago. What makes it a good hire and why does nobody have him on a staff? I mean its basically like hiring fulmer back. A guy who had success in the 90s and has OL experience. I don't see how this guy fits schematically. There are better options for this offense. But I'm sure some ppls fandom make them act like this is a great hire. Butch is doing his buddy a solid and loyalty can get you killed.
Yes. Because asking the poster what his gut tells him results in him saying he's not allowed to make a decision is better than having your own thoughts.
Do not get me wrong I hope it works and you are right, but why did Harbaugh not hire him or anyone else in two years?
Yes, because that's what I said. If you want to pretend like ignoring your opponents is good for business, stay blind. But don't make s*** up about who I'm pledging my allegiances to.
I'm sure that didn't come out the way you intended cuz it were a mess, so I'll give you my stance... I'm not stoked about this potential hire and I'm obviously not alone...it's not the discontent with Butch's choice it's the absolute statements on here. If his hire bombs out and impacts his wins/losses it will obviously affect Butch's job security and recruiting...HE KNOWS THIS...guys like yourself work yourself into a tizzy bemoaning every little thing as the death knell of a program...THERE IS NO SUCH THING...Stanford was a nonentity and Jim Harbaugh, had them relevant in two years and Top 10 in three. Tennessee is much more rechargeable and Butch has us in that direction... If this hire depth charges that we'll figure it out...we don't keep coaches that can't do the job. Just because people don't cut in front of you to get the best razor blades doesn't mean we can't see when we need a shave.eace:
