Looking more and more like DeBord will be the new OC

Those stats are really not that bad for the time. I would hate the hire but those stats don't really support the cause.

Except that his offenses were no more proficient in '06 & '07 as they'd been almost a decade earlier. That's why in his last year as OC Michigan finished 63rd nationally in scoring, 68th in total offense, 47th in rushing, 61st in passing and 73rd in passing efficiency.

IMO, that's the very definition of mediocre. And while I agree that DeBord's earlier offenses were "not that bad" for the time, they really weren't very good either.

I'd much prefer a guy who's actually demonstrated that he can put together an offensive juggernaut -- or at least a significantly better-than-average unit -- by today's standards.

An OC with a strong background in Offensive Line coaching? Sounds like a good fit. Might help shore up our line issues.

Finally a positive comment... Butch knows him and has worked with him. Sounds like a plan to me.

No looks pretty accurate. Look at the lists closely. Bajakian didn't really have to recruit the Knoxville players they were in as soon as they received an offer. Butch gave Bajakian credit for Dormady and Dobbs but he was obviously their lead recruiter. Bajakian may have played a bigger role in Sheriron Jones. Needless to say recruiting wasn't his strong suit.

This guy is not a spread/read-option guy, is he? Carr was running a very traditional offense, as I recall. He seems very old school.

CBJ promotes from within to maintain the integrity and continuity of his staff. It's in his journal he has to stay prepared for such occurrences.

Nice spin. Bajakian made more trips to Boerne than Jones did.

Still better than a guy who hasn't really recruited or ran an offense since 2008.

You really don't know that Jake didn't have a big hand in these guys recruitment. If you do, other than conjecture, than offer up some evidence.

It's was the Big Ten so 68th in total offense is no surprise. I think we basically agree but to varying degrees. I do agree I see no juggernaut offense in there anywhere.

Completely agree and you're right it is conjecture but I never got the sense that Bajakian was much of a recruiter. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think so. I also don't think Butch relies on his coordinators for recruiting that much. Jancek is pretty much non existent on the recruiting trail. More support then actual closing.

We are going to the T formation, since we have Hurd and Kamara. They are going to use a tight end for a blocking back, and this is why Helm actually left. Peterman will be the quarterback. His father was Debord's college roommate. Blue font.
