So let me explain it more clearly for you. As we were talking about Debord basically having not coached in 7 years and last was noteworthy 15 years ago...
I was not referring to the program's relevance but rather the name of the coach they would potentially be playing for.
The recruits want a coach they have heard of. Legg , Franklin , meachem, etc they know their names. Debord was at his pinnacle when they were 2-3 years old. My premise being, they've never heard of him so why would they be even remotely interested in playing for him?
It's a bust hire with all of the passion of a pair of tit mice!

When was the last time, the first name that surfaces actually happened. I mean, how many coaches did the media or other "credible" sources say it was looking more like fill in the blank is going to be hired before they hired Butch? Yes, it could be true, just doubt it.

The "old guy" is 5 years younger than Saban and 13 younger than Spurrier. Most "old guys" learn things over the years through experience. They have generally lived long enough to know that they don't know it all, unlike some others.

I agree. I do think this guy would be an awful hire but I don't think he will be the guy. Hopefully.

DeBord has three conference titles and a national title on his resume from his times at UM. Why would we be the laughing stock of the SEC if we hire him again?
