Josh Dobbs (merged)

It's something he can say that is a positive but is generic enough that he doesn't have to specify what it is because if he did that, he'd be held accountable for his "predicitions". It's the same reason he couches everyone with "Pro Bowl potential" or "Elite potential"; it's a way to say he thinks they'll be great in case they are, but if they aren't, then point out he only said they had potential, not that they'd be great.

I mean let's be honest, even when it's clear as day it's not going to happen, he'll just say Dobbs is the greatest tragedy in sports history; that the NFL had the greatest player ever and never used him.
Which leaves the man alone in his thoughts

Nope. If Dobbs fails on the field I will admit I was wrong.

I'm just 100% certain he will ball out once he gets his shot in real NFL games. Just like I was confident he would outplay Landry Jones and Mason Rudolph in the preseason. You really want me to up those debates from earlier in this thread?

Dobbs will be a SUPERSTAR in the NFL. And if he ain't, you'll never hear from me again about another prospect. Because if I'm wrong about Dobbs, then I know nothing. PERIOD.

Maybe Tomlin will go full Gruden and get rid of Ben for crying
Ben Roethlisberger says it's OK for men to cry

If only we could be so lucky. Even if he isn’t, I’m sure you’ll find some way to spin it and keep us all awaiting your next great prediction.

No. I guarantee you that ain't happening. With all my prospect evaluations, there is a confidence I put into each one. Thus far, the misses I've had have been guys I really didn't have much confidence in. It was more gut feel. Dobbs is the player I have been more confident in than anybody else to date. Maybe Saquon Barkley gets close to him. But everyone else also liked Saquon as a prospect so me going out of my way to hype him wasn't much of a stretch. Dobbs is the guy that I have been most different on from the consensus. If I'm wrong about him, then there is no reason for me to evaluate anyone else. Obviously my method doesn't work.

That is how confident I am in Dobbs. If he doesn't become a big time star in the NFL, you'll never hear from me again when it comes to player/draft evaluations.

So listen man, you've created such a stigma around here surrounding Dobbs and your player evals that a statement like that could cause some to literally cheer against Dobbs. I don't think I am going out on a limb here in saying that most, if not everyone, on here at the moment are not cheering against Dobbs to do something. I think if you toned down the hyperbole/cliche schtick, most would consider your stuff on here just good convo starters. I completely disagree with you about most every QB eval I have seen you do (I used to play it and studied QB play and their mechanics for more than 20 years now) but when you get so defiant on some of these evals like Dobbs, Allen, Jackson etc. with no meat to show why you think you're right other than an "eye test" or "how they look" it doesn't bode well usually.

Anyway, it's never personal and I ain't looking forward to there not being a D4H on here because the debate is never better .. for what it's worth

You seem to think that I care about what other people think. I don't. I just say what I believe. You take it however you want. PERIOD.

"Mike Tomlin noted that although his quarterback had picked up an injury to the index finger on his left hand during the second quarter, it had not impacted his ability to continue."
No, see, he is supposed to get injured by the Ravens this week. Probably near the end of the game. Or is it early in the Panthers game?

PITTSBURGH, PA – Big Ben suffered a broken index finger in Sunday’s win against the Cleveland Browns. Fortunately, it’s on his non-throwing hand and he’s still set to start against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 9.
