I thought it was strange that the ESPN cameras and Herbstreit focused on him as much as they did.

It's because Coach Jones didn't name a starter weeks ago, and so, the eyes of the Network + the rest of the world are prone to focus on what they expect as the other guy coming in, early in the game (seeing as how the first 2 or 3 possessions were void, but probably only because of dropped passes or runs-of-no-gains and not necessarily the fault of the starting qb).

Coach Jones obviously didn't expect this type of media coverage, but still after-it-al probably believes that this type of attention is the best way to create motivation and competition.

imo, This type of attention is what not naming a starter can do for you (maybe Coach Jones will learn from it, but maybe probably not/and-or it probably doesn't affect him the way it does the fans and those players who feel the need to have to follow up with a post-game Tweets to show the world that they indeed still stand behind their team, as if players should be tweeting about these things).

While I agree with you to a point, the majority of players on the sideline know they won't play. None of us know what JG was told, if he was told he would play and didn't I get his frustration.

On a different note, Tennessee didn't have the ball much in the first half. This wasn't like a regular game, he'll play this week hopefully he shines.

Don't forget that Butch didn't like Dobbs at first. Then Dobbs started running circles on defenses. He should have given the more mobile QB a series or two.

This..this is my issue. Kamara was Hurd's backup. I don't trust Butch's judgement anymore.

Yeah, I was responding to the comment "I thought it was strange that the ESPN cameras and Herbstreit focused on him as much as they did."

That is, it's not strange under that circumstance (considering the fan-fare of "who" will play qb for Tenn) for the cameras to be focused on the #2 qb sitting on the bench without his helmet on after just having had his helmet on during first possession or two.

Dormady looks bad and Calloway bailed him out a couple of times. JG should have been in. He is young though. You have to cut him some slack.

Slack on learning the game. NOT on being a team player, let alone a team leader.

He's pouting and sulking. Any good QB leader would be all engaged with a headset and clipboard.

He should play a lot Saturday. If not, we may be down to McBride as backup. Good college QB's don't sit around for long.

The NFL takes notes on that kind of character. Like Hurd he shouldn't show his negative emotions on live TV. Could have a negative impact on others.....ask Colin Kapernick. I call it self control. Vol fans won't watch this behavior long. It was a tight game and we didn't get that many oppotunities on offense. CBJ did what he thought best FOR THE TEAM. I understand it and don't get why JG can't understand it. GO VOLS !!!!!!!

I'd be upset too. QD looked dreadful in the first half. He should've gotten a series in the 2nd quarter.

Did you even watch the game. I can't count how many times the receivers dropped perfectly thrown passes, just like last season with Dobbs. The difference being Dobbs said screw this and took over the game with his athletic abilities.

How does not being engaged show that he is hungry? Someone that is hungry actually takes part in the game, be that what ever rolled the coach has them in.

He played mediocre. If he played well I wouldn't have said anything. I want the best player to play and the other guy should get a shot. Just like Swain said just because Dormady was in the game it doesn't mean he played well or won the game for us. He threw a ton of bad passes. Many that should have been intercepted. The stats were skewered by Calloway playing like Julio Jones. Those are just facts.
