Jarrett Guarantano

The kid has likely been the best player on his team since pee wee ball. His ego has been stroked all his life then he gets the recruiting big time players receive and believes all of it. Then he gets to school and the staff has to un-recruit him and reprogram his thinking. Some recognize this sooner than others. Some never get over themselves and focus on "team". Don't know his parents, but they can either be helpful or part of the problem. Should be interesting to see how the staff deals with it, the response of his teammates and how he responds to a little adversity. If he can't handle this part of his career, he's going to be in for a rude awakening when life deals him a blow. Hope it works out but if not, UT will go on as usual without him.

did anybody see DORMADY rooting for DOBBS on the sideline last season? I promise I have never seen DORMADY rooting guys or cheering for dobbs..Only qb I saw rooting was Sherion.

Dormady and all of the QBs sat with Dobbs most of the time LY.

Butch basically shot down all the psychoanalyzing about JG.

Said the backup QBs have never worn headsets on his teams.

After watching the game again, his attitude is embarrassing. Completely disengaged from the game.

Imagine if QD would have gotten injured or even had to come out for 1 play --- JG would have made a complete fool of himself by not being focused or ready

Did you even watch the game. I can't count how many times the receivers dropped perfectly thrown passes, just like last season with Dobbs. The difference being Dobbs said screw this and took over the game with his athletic abilities.

OK the only 2 perfectly thrown balls I saw was Jennings on the sidelines turning early and Wolfs drop over the middle.

Nothing about Dormady's performance was perfect, but he did show a lot of improvement and opportunity for even more.

I don't believe he is ever going to be an All-American QB but he has potential to be a good QB, if he doesn't lose the job with bad decision making!

More sour grapes, John R Lansford?

At least you're (finally!) no longer insisting that the QB battle isn't over yet, and QD could still transfer after JG gets the start.

You are saying that isn't a possibility? Wow I have never strayed that far, it is still a possibilty but just less likely now.:)

No Sour grapes here. I am just a realist that Dormady may not be the guy all year. He is going to have to make better decisions with the football, All of the throws he made into triple and quadruple coverage, staring down receivers, and bad throws behind receivers won't cut it in SEC play. Am I wrong?

He can improve, and I hope he does. All I care about is winning each game. If he gives us the best chance to win then I hope he improves to be a more consistent QB. He doesn't have to do it pretty every week but he can't be a liability either. He has the opportunity to improve, I hope he does but if he doesn't I don't think we will be in bad hands with Guarantano either.

And no the QB battle isn't over Butch said it in the Press Conference today! All about Competition!

That's right, brother, you hold out.

I can see you keeping this torch lit right up until QD declares himself for the draft, then you'll be like, "SEE!? I TOLD HE'D TRANSFER OUT! HE'S GOING TO THE BRONCOS!"

Heh, just having fun with you, man, you carry that torch. :)

I see not much has changed on volnation. First time starter brings his team back after being down. Had no interceptions. Brought his team back in the fourth quarter. Does his job in overtime and stays calm, cool and collected in that first game against a good team. Instead of giving him his props for overcoming adversity you complain about him throwing off his back foot or he should have kept the ball on the zone read comparing him to Worley. This kid brought us back to put us in the position to win. We won

JG plays at least a half against Indiana St. Both QB's get experience and are ready to be called upon in the swamp. gators have no idea what to expect. Just my take...Go Vols!!

If JG doesn't play at all this week I think it may be a ploy by Lyle and Co to keep him as secretive as possible for SEC play and he will be cycled in and out of the Florida game to keep them from loading the box and blitzing to either rattle dormandy or just disrupt the run game since our oline clearly has problems blocking yet again

We are making to much of this and worrying to much. Was he pouting? I don't know. Perhaps he is a cool customer like Casey Clawson. If he was pouting then I am sure he'll learn from the experience. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and let Cannales coach him up. JG will get an opportunity at some point during the season and we should all hope he's ready.
If we assume he is pouting and immature and it turns out he is not, then who is being childish? Let's let the coaches make the call.

Dormandy can't be rattled...since he's not on the roster.

Jarrett will correct his mistake of not being very supportive of his team on the side line. You want to play? You have two options:
1. Go to work and compete for your time and be ready when it comes.
2. OR, be a back room lawyer and cause cancer on your team. It's really that simple. I believe he will correct himself and be ready for Indiana St.
