Jabari Small Committed.

I don't claim to know anything, but both Small and Tee Hodge seem a bit underrated to me. Both put up great numbers, even against good competition. I don't know how their success will translate to the next level, but I think there's a good reason the staff is so high on both of them.

Best 3-star player: Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield

Others considered: Alabama DB Eddie Jackson, South Carolina LB Skai Moore, South Carolina WR Pharoh Cooper, Arizona QB Anu Solomon, North Carolina WR Ryan Switzer, Arkansas LB Brooks Ellis, Tennessee CB Cam Sutton, Arkansas OT Dan Skipper, Georgia S Quincy Mauger, Ole Miss TE Evan Engram, Houston QB Greg Ward Jr., Auburn K Daniel Carlson, Vanderbilt RB Ralph Webb, Colorado State WR Rashard Higgins, Mississippi State WR De’Runnya Wilson, Kentucky K Austin MacGinnis, Toledo RB Kareem Hunt
3 stars from just one year, from an old article.
Feel free to look up any other years.
But yeah you stargazers convinced me, despite offers from many power 5 teams, no 3 star is gonna be worth taking. Don’t want.

Stars do not mean a darn thing.
How Strongly is Recruiting Correlated with On-Field Success in College Football

The playoff era has only accentuated this point. Since 2014, only one team has had a composite team recruiting ranking outside the top twenty and advanced to the final four (Michigan State - 2015). Alabama has never been outside the top three. They have five playoff appearances. Clemson has only one year outside the top five. They have four playoff appearances.

As of now, the statement "teams that make the playoffs have, on average, the most-highly recruited players" rings true. The opposite, however, is not.

Please let me remind some that he was just as much recruited for his return skills. Very good and comfortable catching punts which can win or lose games. He is a very good back to provide depth and can line up at slot as well. And he is Big O best friend so for you star gazers he is as good as any Lineman in top 100. I preference that by Lineman because he could be AA at either position will see in time. So all in all a great commitment.
The recruiting write up said he is a nightmare for linebackers trying to cover him out of the backfield. Has great hands and speed.

If what you say is true, then point me to the team that was primarily consisted of 3* players who were starters and how many playoff/national championship games they have played in.
The higher ranked teams and coaches will always have the highest ranked classes and recruits. Self fulfilling prophecy. What was Tennessee’s recruiting ranking in 1998? Don’t have to even look it up.

I was at the Briarcrest vs Ensworth playoff game and was very impressed with Small. I saw a lot of Ty Chandler at MBA and they are very similar in explosion and vision. Also, Keyshawn might be the most exciting kick/punt returner I’ve seen in a long time...

What is our recruit class ranking now, with this valuable player added? How do we compare to FL, GA, BAMA, LSU ?

3 star rb will not move the needle for us with the ranking services. They base the rankings on stars. 4 and 5 star guys will. 5 stars doesn't guarantee anything though. Crompton was a 5 star QB for example.
