Jabari Small Committed.

That's all well and good but the exception to the rule doesnt make it the rule. You still cannot deny the fact that typically, the teams that consistently finish highest in recruiting usually finish highest in the rankings at the end of the season, especially in the SEC.
Nope the team that recruits and develops the best talent tends to finish highest in the rankings at the end of the season. Recruiting services are a scam for dummies. It is for entertainment purposes only.

I just did explain it.

Please explain why several Bama commits moved down.
My point is the rankings are not based on the player’s ability but on reputation, offers, school they play for, etc. Players move down for equally irrelevant reasons, their team has a bad season, they play poorly in an all-star game, or a player at the same position is recruited after them.
To put a bow on it, the fact that the ratings change at all points to their unreliability. Imagine if car reviews worked the same. The car is test driven by an and rated 2 stars, Dale Earnhardt Jr. buys one its rating jumps to 5 stars.

Explain how a player with 0 stars for 2 years becomes a 4 star over night beause he is noticed and offered by a high profile program.

As I've argued elsewhere, the recruiting sites have neither the resources or expertise to deeply evaluate every HS player to determine which are the best and worthy of high rankings. There are somewhere around 300K HS senior football players each year. About 1% will be good enough to get a scholarship. A few sports writers and analysts trying to weed through all of that to find the "best" players is pretty close to impossible.

So... they also look at who is recruiting a kid knowing that Saban and several others have a demonstrated track record of finding the best players. That doesn't mean his targets are necessarily better than someone else's... but your odds are better when handing out rankings.

Also, by watching which programs pursue a player the recruiting sites "borrow" from REAL recruiting services. All of the major programs employ consultants that help them evaluate recruits. It is a "for fee" business... and some are much better than others.

This true. 247 and Rivals should more accurately called reporting services. They are reporters just like sports reporting. They are just echoing was the experts are doing.
They are as reliable as pregame picks by reporters or tv personalities, not a coin flip but don’t bet the house.
