JA granted temporary restraining order against NCAA eligibility rules

Mixed emotions regardless how it turns out. Having Uncle Rico trying to still play college football at 25-27 years old isn't good for the game. On the other hand, there's a ton of players who end up riding the bench for years before getting a fair shot at the field. Take a guy like Hooker. He almost sat behind Milton for a whole year before Milton got hurt. He could have found himself stuck there. He just needed the opportunity. Some guys don't get lucky. Should they change schools, getting playing time, and show that they can start, why not give them another year to show the NFL scouts what they have?
Hooker didn't sit behind Milton for a whole year, it was only a couple of games. Milton is the one who sat a whole year behind Hooker

Grab a handful of what you claim is common sense in one hand and and a handful of the law in the other and see which one fills up first.

Actually, common sense and the law agreement in this case. The NCAA rule violates both.
I guess we will just have to see how it pans out in court.

As much as we would want this to happen, I hope it doesn’t.

It’s time to end this madness. Not only is he playing a career college QB. I think it sends a poor message to the QB locker room.
Poor message? You’re upgrading your roster every year or you’re fired eventually. Qb position is one of the most important on the team. You find and go with the best option. I hate it but the way you’re thinking about developing your talent doesn’t happen really any more. Most great QBs move around

What if he gets a ton of reps at Spring practice, and this ruling gets overturned ? Is everyone going to still love JA when we start the season with a qb that didnt even get spring practice reps?

He’s not going to get a ton of reps in the spring.

Joey is 24, will be 25 when the season starts. Michael Penix, Bo Nix, Tyler Shough, Jayden Daniels and our VFL Hendon Hooker were all drafted between the ages of 24-26 in the last 3 years.

Tyler Shough was in college for 7 years at 3 different schools. This would be Joey’s 4th division 1️⃣ year at 3 different schools.

TJ Finley is going to his 7th school in 7 years. I say this to say Joey isn’t even that old compared to other QBs on similar paths. His issue is JUCo years counting towards his career eligibility.

He’d finish the season at 25 and we’ve seen guys in his age range be drafted, including HH.
I personally want a QB who’s 33. Why not? I want grown men to help us win a natty!!!

You sound like a three year old having a temper tantrum. You have zero logical or factual reason for your position.
No one’s throwing a tantrum. Nothing is going to change my mind that someone should play college football that long.

The fact that he is going to benefit our team next year is most of why people here will support and defend him.

You don’t have to try to convince me otherwise.

It’s not a bad or illegal rule. It’s common sense that no one should play this long.
Maybe, maybe not. Not everyone develops at the same time. If JUCO doesn’t count against eligibility, it coukd rejuvenate the JUCO level. Joey was a zero star and has turned into a quality P4 QB.

You absolutely are throwing a tantrum.
You are committed to never changing your mind no matter how wrong the facts say you are.

You have no credibility here.

He knows our offense. He'll be behind an improved O-Line. He has the heart and skillset of a winner. All I see is upside to this.
So we should let him keep suing so he can play another 5 years at UT.

He knows our offense. He'll be better as we improve elsewhere. He has heart and a skillset of a winner. All I see is upside to Joey A playing at UT for 10 years, maybe 15.

Why not? Colleges are full of adult students. I didn't get my second undergrad degree and my master's until I was far past my early 20's, was married, had a family, and worked a full time job.

I wasn't a college athlete but why should the athletes be discriminated against simply fir being an athlete, or for their age?

lol, I’m not, just because you aren’t going to change my mind isn’t me throwing a tantrum.

Perhaps, by your logic, you are.

As long as the rules of eligibility are fluid, yes!!!

We are in a transition period between unfair NCAA rules and the wild-wild-west of college ahletics. Exploiting opportunity during this transition is not only warranted, it's necessary.
