Guess mine started in earnest in the next to the last year of Dooley. That's when I decided supporting UT's miserable football program with contributions and attendance was no longer a worthy investment. I usually did 10K per year and had Terrace seats. It's been on a continued wane since then. I'd been fooled/excited in the early stages of each and every hire since. Won't lie. Thought maybe we had the "answer" each time UT swapped out one loser for another. Yeah...even with Pruitt. Figured the fat man knew a coach when he saw one. Of course, I ignored all the hires that got his butt canned. I also ignored the era he'd been successful in vs the game as it stands and is played today. He's a dinosaur and hired a like minded critter that's borderline extinct in the game today. Now I'm way off the bandwagon on hiring an "up and comer". We've shown an uncanny ability to choose the absolute worst coaches. It's now time for proven ability. A hope and prayer won't fly anymore.
UT needs a guy who can really push the envelope in recruiting. It also has to be a guy younger and more innovative on offense or who recognizes the need for such an OC and can find/hire one. If he's got or can find someone who can slow down today's offenses, that's also a plus. He doesn't necessarily need to win pressers, but at least be able to speak in complete sentences and not come across like he has a speech impediment/learning disability. He is, after all, the face of the program and to a large degree, the university. Everyone knows who the sits atop my list and the guy right behind him.
