How can you defend JG after this?

JP's excuse for Younger guys not playing because of mistakes doesn't hold water any longer. If I am a young guy I am questioning why a 5th year senior is allowed to get by with mistakes and still play yet I am on the bench. Also, If I was a reporter at a presser I would ask JP this same question, time to put him on the spot, and defend his position with something other than "JG puts us in the best position to win." Today showed that is a lie. Of course, fans already know this.

The opponent matters folks.

There isn't a defense close to that one in the rest of the league

Can’t be the D - Gaurantano was supposed to waltz into Athens and make the best defense in the country playing at home look like clowns.......at least that’s what the wizards on VN say

Please stop the nonsense. This was a tale of two halves. We were aggressive in the 1st half. We got after it and created opportunities.

2nd half was conservative. Gave the initiative and it multiplied on us.

Facts: UGA and Bama are better. Everyone else is up for grabs. Go Vols!!!!
Please stop the nonsense as in bench jg? If so I completely agree.

Yeh the annoying part is , if UGA got by Bama and ended up in a title game with someone like Clemson, they'd fold like lawn chairs and look slow and clumsy.

I support JG. I do not support this 2nd half performance. But how many of y'all were saying that at halftime? Pick his fault. 2 fumbles 50% his fault. Imho.

So it sucked, but he had us in it.
The run game was horrid. I just wonder how much the QB affects that with what he sees at the line.

You cant be serious

You can try and deflect blame but the numbers do not lie. Equal turnovers. Over 400 yards for UGA on offense. 50% 3rd down conversions. Barely 200 yards total offense for us. NONE of our linebackers can cover anyone. Our DBs aren’t much better in pass coverage. Missed tackles. Dropped interception. One good goaline stand and that was it. Our offense was terrible outside of a couple deep throws. The O line sucked. The qb sucked. The play calling sucked. There is no bright spot here except for 3 plays and that was our 21 points.

Dude the oline hasn't even blocked for him, I mean it's hard to hate on the guy when he gets blasted 1.5 seconds into the play. He had a very bad INT. But other than that I dunno what the dude is supposed to do with one second to throw
He had way more than one second on all those turnovers. As usual, he held the ball too long. I said last week that even when given 5 seconds he uses all 5 of them. No reason to expect he would do much against the best defense he will see all year. If he had played mistake free the way our defense was playing, they may have won the game for us with a pick 6 or 2. You can't give them the ball inside the 30 and leave the defense on the field the whole game as well.

That last fumble he literally had one second lol. The first fumble definitely was dumb, he could of got down.

How do you defend Pruitt after this? Any head football coach hired at UTK that goes three straight years without beating one of these three: Florida, Georgia or Alabama should be shown the door. Don't start with how close he has come. Jones came very close several times. ONE....ONE...win over any of the three over a three year period. That is a very low barr but we have to keep firing and hiring until we get the guy who can do that. The idiot that extended Pruitt's contract should be removed the entire state. What a waste of money from the hard working tax payers of the State of Tennessee.
Jones didn't just come close - he beat UGA twice, and the first time was his third season. He also beat UF in his fourth season. He wasn't a good coach and deserved to be fired. What does that say about the guy we have now? Anyone on here think we have a snowball's chance against UF this year?

The running game was nonexistent
The line didn’t block

But JG wasn’t good. There was no reason on earth “someone”......”anyone” didn’t come in at some point and at least “give it a try”....and at least gained some game experience.

Some of it was line play but still no excuse for a 5th year Senior to have absolutely zero freaking awareness in the pocket. His whole demeanor is garbage when things aren't going well. Lacks leadership !!!

Ok, so the first 3 he had way more, but on the fourth, they were coming and he may as well just thrown it out of bounds.

Sounds like bad offensive coaching as much as anything. And recruiting.

If there isn't anyone better than what you're describing, the staff needs to be removed.
I've been saying for a while that either this staff is poor at developing QBs, or poor at evaluating QBs. There is no other answer at this point if JG is our best option, as determined by the coaches, at the most important offensive position on the field in year #3. The staff has either done a terrible job at developing Guarantano, Shrout, Maurer, and to an extent, Bailey, or they have recruited talentless duds at the QB position to replace him.

No QB on planet earth will have awareness being hit as soon as the ball snapped. It's that simple.

Certainly, down 23, another QB deserves some snaps.
Exactly. Looking at the camera shot of Guarantano on the sideline he was beaten. Even if he is 5 times better than the rest of the QBs combined on the roster, it was time to sit him. Any of the others would have likely tried harder and been excited to get on the field. This is what i simply cannot understand.

Putting Guarantano in for those last two possessions was not going to make him or the team better nor was it going to change the outcome of the game. Putting anyone else in at that point gives the opportunity for someone else to get experience which will hopefully make them a better player and the team better overall.

It's more on Pruitt. After the 2nd turnover in a close game ge should've at least sit him for a series. He didn't, JG couldn't bounce back, and it screwed any chance we had.
I get you’re upset. We all are but who would sit their starting QB due to 2 turnovers? Maybe if there’s an active competition that happens but we apparently don’t have that.

Who knows. If we have another QB on the bench with the IT factor. Hey, look what Missouri did. Look what we did to them. I knew that QB was a real find. Good thing we played them early. Look at Arkansas. Geez, we got Missouri, but Arkansas doesn't look like a win now. A&M beat Florida today as well. It's the last game of the year, if we ever have a chance it's late in the year. We ain't never gonna beat them in game 3.
