Does Butch jump ship after this season if goes to SEC-CG?

:lolabove:
I say yes if decent offer. Here's why:
1) 2017 will likely be a step back. Other than a rs freshman QB and Jennings, no superstars.(so far none in current recruiting class)
2) SEC too competitive. Would be a better fit in ACC with only two really powerful teams.
3) No AD at UT.
4) Expectations too high and not appreciated at UT if you believe the rumors.
5) Burning red shirts like Calloway's doesn't look like someone planning for 4 more years.

If UT goes to to the SEC-CG, Butch will remind the media daily that UT was SEC East Champions...CHAMPIONS! The guy can promote damn near as well as John Ringling (of the circus Ringlings).

Worthless thread!

This is one of the best jobs in the SEC and the biggest Jones has had his whole career. He is a decent coach and has pulled us out of a giant hole but I don't see anyone offering him.

You're right....

Not to a playoff spot
Not to a victory over Muschamp
Not to a victory over the SEC west
Not to a championship

All places Butch won't be going any time soon...

Honestly what top tier program would hire him? Any AD that has watched us play this season wouldn't touch him.

Top programs have made head scratching hires before:
UCLA-ALford
USC- Kiffin
Garey Anderson left Wisconsin for Oregon State, kind of a step down
Tubby left UK for Minnesota- I know the history but still weird

I can't see Butch leaving, would think it would have to be an Oregon and surely they will go bigger.

The only way Butch leaves UT is if he is fired. As of right now, no other school (or NFL team for that matter) is remotely interested in him, IMHO

Remember Petrino at Atlanta? No one had the slightest idea that Petrino would leave Atlanta, especially, before his first season there had ended.
There is no way that anyone knows what is going on in the offices of each NCAA football team or every NFL football team.
DId you know that the Seahawks were going to hire Pete Carroll?
I do believe that it is highly unlikely that he will leave the program this year, UNLESS, he is involved in a Bruce Pearl like scandal and forced to leave.

Well, he seems to follow Brian Kelly to jobs. Brian Kelly left Central Michigan and bUTch took the job. Brian Kelly left Cincinnati and bUTch took the Cincinnati job.
What if Brian Kelly leaves the Notre Dame job? Would bUTch take the job?

I'm pretty sure Brian Kelly's salary of 1.62 million isn't going to entice Butch Jones, plus you don't get the recruits to Notre Dame like you do UT.

He makes more than $1.62 mil

Notre Dame’s return noted that Kelly was “permitted to receive compensation from external sources with prior written approval from the university,” and that any such pay was not reported on the tax form.

I am guessing most every fan base has a faction of fans that think there coach is crap. They don't want him so why would any program hire him, right. From the outside looking in Jones has done a good job and there are programs that want him. I agree his salary and buyout would be an issue for most programs. Every coach has a shelf life. In a year or two UT fans happy with 10 wins will demand an NC. How many coaches can deliver a NC within two years, perhaps one. If I were Butch I would be looking for a new job just to restart the clock and get another 4 years as head coach somewhere, even for less money. Ask Mark Richt about 10 wins.

He'll stay until his contract runs out or he gets fired. Who's going to pay him more than we are right now?! There are a handful of schools that he could go to that would be an upgrade, and none of them are looking at Coach Jones. Expectations are what this school and this conference are about, granted some of the fan base is irrational, but that's a part of it. If he considers becoming bowl eligible a goal he should go back to Central Michigan or Cincinnati.

I got a feeling that the people that believe this are the same people that thought Dooley was going to get hired away from us by Georgia.:eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:
