Butch won't be an in demand coach even if he does make it to the SEC Championship. Not sure where a tempting offer would come from.

I say yes if decent offer. Here's why:
1) 2017 will likely be a step back. Other than a rs freshman QB and Jennings, no superstars.(so far none in current recruiting class)
2) SEC too competitive. Would be a better fit in ACC with only two really powerful teams.
3) No AD at UT.
4) Expectations too high and not appreciated at UT if you believe the rumors.
5) Burning red shirts like Calloway's doesn't look like someone planning for 4 more years.

What SEC team would pony down for Butch Jones?

We can't be that lucky to where Butch leaves. However, regardless if we win or lose the SECCG, no way in hell do we or should we give Butch a raise or extension. He has done nothing this year that warrants one.

The answer is no but it'd be a dream scenario for us if he willingly left. We wouldn't have to pay a buyout...which would allow us to offer a lot more money to someone else. And the job is definitely more attractive than it was a few years ago. The sec is the premier conference but the sec east is as bad as it's ever been. Plus we have better talent than we had the last time we hired a coach, partially because tn has been producing so much hs talent recently

Butch would not hesitate to go if a top program came open. He has seen that this fan base is not loyal to him. I don't know if a top program will open this year unless Auburn or Tx. maybe. He may wait a year to see who AD becomes. Butch is not gonna be loyal to this program though. Can't blame him.

Scenarios where Butch leaves:
(1) Michigan or Michigan State call.
(2) Notre Dame calls.
(3) Realizes he's not cut out for the SEC.
(4) Gets fired.

(1) Not going to happen. Harbaugh is at UM until and unless HE decides he wants to go elsewhere. As for MSU, it's going to take another year like this one before they even think about changing coaches, and if they do they'll go after a proven name, either college or NFL. That excludes CBJ.
(2) Not going to happen. When ND is back on the market (sooner rather than later IMO), they'll look to the NFL (again, IMO).
(3) Not going to happen. Ego too big.
(4) Most likely scenario. This is an 8-9, maybe 10 win staff. It's going to take a new AD who's willing to back up a dump truck full of money to get something better.

So...CBJ is here for the near (~ 5 yrs) future. Could be shorter if we fall back to a 6 or 7 win team. Could be longer if we make it to a SECCG or two.

Best bet is to hope he can finally get the BSiA, and let them do their job.

Go Vols.

I'm not sure what you're smoking but I'll take some.
You honestly think Texas would hire Butch? The same Texas that tried to hire Saban? Why stop at Texas cause the 49ers might hire him. Right?

Woe is Butch. So your saying Tennessee is not a top program and if he did go to a top program I'm sure they would have no expectations.

That's a silly thought without adding in if a job of equal stature came up. Then he might do it. I don't care. He has yet to prove what we all expected but this season is not over.

listen...no NFL team would touch Butch with his current buyout...and if no NFL team would touch that buyout then what college would? Butch is protected thanks to that stupid buyout.

Do you think if he goes to another top level program that they will simply accept and applaud his mediocre at best coaching?
