Just read these quotes on Tennessean.
Butch Jones: SEC coaching takes years off life
Now, I think it would be crazy to leave when you have the talent returning that Butch has, however, this does NOT sound like a coach that is loving the pressures of the SEC.
Any other thoughts? Insights? Could he pull an Urban?
This post is the equivalent of this....
Steve steps outside and makes the remark "It's hot outside today."
Then the willinhf says "Oh my God, we are all going to melt. Do you think the sun is on a collision course for the earth? Run for your lives."
Just some of the things he's said about the NFL plus some of the name dropping he does. It seems he said something that added to my impression when Bajakian left too.
Not quite tangible but not exactly "gut" either. Just an accumulation of small things.
I wouldn't guess at his ability to succeed at any level in the NFL.

Would we really want a coaching search now? A ton of jobs are open and I haven't see that we can do better than bUTch.
The program is trending up and I've heard more about Tennessee on ESPN than I have in several years.
Hold the fort bUTch. Don't let the negas bring you down

"Want to" is tricky... but UT can hire someone who is better on game day than Jones has shown so far.
If your goal were to attract the best possible candidate of those available then this year or next is the IDEAL time for that. Great facilities, talented roster, program perceived to be on the rise... just waiting for the coach who can push them over the top with HIS ability. What coach doesn't want to walk into that?
Jones has successfully put UT in that position should he unexpectedly choose to leave for something else.
I'd like to see that list....if it only included highly likely candidates. Butch has some faults, but you can find them in just about every "available" and likely to come coach out there.
Fuente came to mind without even having to think about it. Give Babers a decent DC and things could be pretty exciting.
My boss who is a tOSU grad thinks that the magic left the Buckeyes when Tom Herman went to Houston.
Fuente is the most interesting of these to me because he's proven he can make a bad team good... without a massive infusion of talent.
Matt Rhule is also a guy who has proven he can get more from less on gameday. It sure wasn't comparable talent that kept them in the game vs ND.
2 of those 3 are about to hired in a week
Besides I would argue neither are better than jones
To be honest, I kept reading this over and over thinking I was missing some quotes or something. I just really didn't see anything worth freaking out over in there.
