Could Butch leave?

That's the dumbest statement I've heard on here in a long time! Have you seen LSU offense over the past 5 years? If He couldn't win with Louisiana talent, how in the world do you think he could win at Tennessee?!!! Les Miles is a fraud! Butch Jones is the real deal. You can talk about the short comings of Butch, his offensive hires, his in game coaching, second half adjustments etc, but the truth is that he has us on the brink of a 9 win season, and truly no one on here knows how difficult that has been with the shape the program was in when he arrived!

If this is the dumbest statement you've read on here in a while all I can say is welcome back. You must have been gone for a while, lol.

Les has proven more on the field to this point than Butch. That could change next year (here's hoping). Les can recruit just as well as Butch. Currently sitting on the number 1 class in the nation. If recruiting at LSU was so easy, why did they suck (barring a few season here and there) until Saban came to town?

It seems most that are saying "this is so stupid" are basing this off of this season and this season only. I look at this over the course of the last few years and a career. Even basing it off of this season, LSU beat Mississippi state and Florida. They are 7-3, we are 7-4. They play in the West which is much tougher than the east.

Not that any of this matters, really. Butch isn't leaving. We are getting better. We are improving. I don't hate Butch. But Miles is Underrated big time IMO. Obviously several posters disagree, and that's OK. No big deal. This is a scenario with less than .01% chance anyway.

TN is one of the top 4 schools in the SEC as far as money facilities fan base history and all that. I was just thinking about this the other day and my top 4 is Bama, LSU, Florida, and TN for SEC schools and top places to pick if you wanted a coaching job in the SEC. There is only around 5-10 other schools in the entire country that are on that level.

I talked directly with Peyton's agent and was told he is definitely taking over the UT job next season and that Butch is going to VA Tech.

Peyton's agent told me ETSU was his likely landing spot. I also confirmed this by reading an ETSU message board.

Edit: also heard that Jalen Hurd likes where Tusculum is headed already sent his transcripts and is ready to be a pioneer for spring ball.

Just read these quotes on Tennessean.

Butch Jones: SEC coaching takes years off life

Now, I think it would be crazy to leave when you have the talent returning that Butch has, however, this does NOT sound like a coach that is loving the pressures of the SEC.

Any other thoughts? Insights? Could he pull an Urban?

He is the one who turned the Colorado job down and wanted this..If he can't handle the pressure then he is at the wrong school and wrong league.

You left out A&M and UGA, both are fertile recruiting grounds with endless possibilities. Both have coaches that aren't taking advantage of that, could you imagine a Nick Saban or Les Miles at A&M?

Just say No to Les Miles.

I would take averaging 10 wins a year and a few NC appearances ( winning 1) anyday of the week. Especially doing it in the SEC West.I don't know why LSU has struggled developing QB's but the worst move he has made was hiring Kevin Stelle as his DC. A great recruiter but horrible DC.

All of the below should sound familiar

Column: Butch Jones commitment to Cincy was pretense

He pretended to be committed to Cincinnati.

He made the university look foolish. While Whit Babcock and Santa Ono huddled to find ways to appease Jones, Jones was job hunting.

Last year, after leveraging one good season into multiple job interviews and a contract extension, Jones said, "I think I've proven I want to be here. This is a very special place. We're building something special here. I ask our players to make a commitment. I need to make a commitment back.''

Much much different set of circumstances

Not a fair comparison at all

It's not as simple as saying jones can't handle the pressure if he wants out. Butch might be all in but

We don't know what is being said within his home. His wife might be saying it is family or tenn football. If so what should he do??

You're reaching. No offense, but your step dad is probably a little bit of a VT homer so he is going to make it sound like a more high profile job than what it is. I know a lot of these people 'connected' to the university claim so and so is interested just because they think everyone wants to be at the university they support. Kinda like all of the Gruden nonsense that took a life of its own. I don't think your step dad is intentionally lying to you, I just think he got some bad information and passed it along to you. Butch isn't going anywhere.

And comparing the moves from Central Michigan to Cincy to UT to possibly a VT is apples to oranges. All of his previous moves were upgrades. Leaving Knoxville for Blacksburg would be a huge step down. I think what we are seeing is another classic volnation take one comment and give it a life of its own moment.

The only place Butch would even consider going right before his efforts start paying off would be georgia. I think he would have to think about georgia. he would consider it IMO. Nothing else even makes sense.

Very interesting read. Would not surprise me 1 bit to see him leave within the next 3 years. Heck I hope he actually makes it past 3 years here. That would be a first for him.

I hope he leaves voluntarily. That would be the absolute best case scenario. Imagine what a great sideline coach with a pair invalid could do with all this talent. Justin Fuentes would be a slam dunk

yeah...he's been tearing it up the past 3 weeks. He's demonstrated he might be a good mid major coach...what makes you confident he's better than Jones?

OK, he like the rest of the Athletic Department know what Tech is. Its a regional program and they do a great job in promoting it and keeping it a float.

While it may not be a fair comparison, I was speaking more in terms of he's been a robot everywhere he's been saying the same things over and over and over and over. For him to say these things in the article the thread was started over really show his true feelings for the job. He's stressed and overwhelmed.

I agree they are odd statements for a robot but not sure I would go that far
