Manga was never really my thing but I’ve been reading Akira over the last 6 months or so. Those phone books always looked so daunting but it reads fast.I’m assuming manga posts count as comic posts.
Managed to snag this beautiful Battle Angel Alita box set-half off. Thing is a hoss, has to weigh at least 30 lbs. Costed a pretty penny even on sale, but it was well worth it. Been meaning to read this for years now, very excited to dive in when I have time. View attachment 732667
It’s fun to collect cover themes. You find so many things you wouldn’t expect.Picked these three up today. Realizing there are a lot of Batman covers that involve blimps, balloons, helicopters, and planes - with Batman being pushed/tossed out of them. Random, but I may start collecting the covers I don’t have that follow that theme.

Akira is actually my favorite comic book (I know some people get all mad when you call mangas comics but idc) period lol. First read through it 7 years ago and have probaly read it 5 times ever since. Love it so much it has its own spot on my shelf, because I consider it the holy grail of this medium.Manga was never really my thing but I’ve been reading Akira over the last 6 months or so. “Manga” means comics in Japanese. Anyone getting mad about that is kinda sillyAkira is actually my favorite comic book (I know some people get all mad when you call mangas comics but idc) period lol. I love that Crossroads arc. Sal Buscema delivers some of his best work in that run.View attachment 737390
Today’s arrivals. Looks like a mouse got to the bottom of the Nocturna cover. It was only $1.50, and I saw the balloon and had to get it since I’m grabbing the Batman falling out of a balloon/blimp/plane thing with the covers.
The two Hulks on the left are part of a series “Crossroads”, and I’m collecting them. Really like the Mignola covers. And the other Hulk is a Sam Keith issue I’ve wanted.

I just covered the Adam Kieth issue on YouTube last week!
I love his Batman stuff. That video is really good, man.
I love the first Hulk frame. Took a picture of it and sent it to my nephew when I was flipping through it.

I also really like Sam Keith’s Penguin in that Secret Origins issue. Good stuff.
I find it disturbing that as a guy that bought these off the rack when they came out, it's been about as long since it came out as X-Men 1 was to me when I bought #266 (about 30 years). My favorite X-Man has always been Gambit. Could not pass up the opportunity to get his first appearance!

Yep. That's my regular store. Good peeps there.I happened to find myself in Maryville last Saturday and had the chance to stop in The Golden Age 1942 comic book store. I was greeted by one of the owners and taken on a short tour to let me know where things were as well as how it is laid out. Really nice people there and a pretty cool place to check out. I even found a couple of books in the 50 cent comic room to add to the collection.
Highly recommend a visit. Compared to a lot of other comic stores, it's an absolute breath of fresh air to not be treated how some other comic stores treat potential customers.
