Comic Books

I think someone mentioned displaying comics in his mancave. I saw a YouTube video recently that had a simple way of doing this with j-trim. I’m turning my workshop in the basement into a comics/puzzles/legos room for the kids and me. I tested out the j-trim, and it works great. I did three rows out from a corner and kind of stair-stepped them down. I’ll probably rotate the comics I have on display.

Live comic book claim sale tonight.
Instagram sale but here is a preview from the Facebook.

Finally got my copy of the new Heavy Metal #1.

I had backed the kickstarter campaign but it landed in stores first which was kind of annoying but it was worth the wait.

Went with the Greg Hilderbrandt cover because it’s one of the last things he did before he passed in Oct.

This thing is packed with some gorgeous art.

Sad news!

Peter David’s Hulk is what made me a comic collector. I was picking up those McFarlane issues from the corner store near my house for months before I found a comic shop. I stuck with title through his entire run and was pretty bitter about them forcing him off in the late 90s. This was my post about it on IG…

This isn’t the last time Peter David would write the Hulk but it was the end of his 11 year continuous run.

This period of time always perplexed me. Marvel was happy enough with David on Hulk that the title wasn’t included in the Heroes Reborn shake up of 1996. They even had David write the Heroes Return mini series. After which he spent time re-establishing the Hulk’s future status quo.

Then all of a sudden editorial made a shift. The Hulk needed a new number 1. It was time for David to go… just because.

This final story came abruptly but PAD handled it with grace. Adam Kubert provided the pencils and inks. The narrative is a few years in the future. Rick Jones is being interviewed about the life of Bruce Banner/Hulk. By the end the interviewer, is revealed to be David although we never see him. Instead he speaks through Rick…

“YOU SEE...I COULD KEEP ON TELLING STORIES ABOUT THE HULK... KEEP ON GOING... BUT THERE’S OTHER THINGS IN LIFE YOU KNOW? IT’S LIKE WHAT BRUCE TOLD ME. REALIZE WHAT’S IMPORTANT... FAMILY, LOVED ONES... THAT’S THE IMPORTANT THING.

…I’VE SAID ENOUGH.”

RIP to another Legend.

Wow that’s a great lot. Never used that site before though.
I have on a few occasions and haven’t had a bad experience. I always set a limit and stick with it. You have to watch shipping charges. This auction looks good, but some try to charge crazy “handling fees” on top of shipping costs.

That’s the old eBay way. They used to not charge sellers a fee on the shipping. People would sell things for $1 with $100 shipping. It was kinda ridiculous. Eventually eBay just changed the policy to a fee that encompasses the whole sale, including shipping.

Question ... is there any demand for old SEC football magazines. I have about 20 yrs of them between '98 and 2022, a couple yrs missing, mostly Lindy's, but 2 or 3 Athlons and Phil Steeles mixed in there. 🤔🤷
