I mentioned Dan Earl and his involvement at Chattanooga in the DAILY DIRT on Monday. Now, according to Jeff Borzello, this move seems to be done.
Chattanooga AD Wharton spent 25 years at Penn State prior to his time with the Mocs. Earl is former All-Big Ten player at Penn State, who spent 2006-11 as an assistant there.
Earl went 73–138 (.346) during his time at VMI, including 34–88 (.279) in the SoCon. He has also been an assistant at Navy in addition to his time at Penn State.
Earl would replace Lamont Paris, who became the head coach at South Carolina a few weeks ago.
More on this when it becomes official.

Early names at Georgia State to replace Rob Lanier (departed or SMU) are current GSU assistant Cliff Warren and current Xavier interim head coach Jonas Hayes. Warren has been at Georgia State since 2019, following stints as an assistant at UMass and Maryland. He was the head coach at Jacksonville from 2005-14. Hayes is an Atlanta native who played at Georgia and spent time on the Bulldogs staff.

Yale’s James Jones picking up steam at San Diego. Stay tuned…

Any idea who LSU is after, Now tha Underwood is off the list

You think they get probation thanks to Wade ?
They should. It is insane they let him remain even after he refused to cooperate with their internal investigation and he was busted on federal wiretap.

I cannot think of any other profession where an employee can be plausibly suspected/accused of gross professional misconduct, have a smoking gun emerge relative to that misconduct, the employee tells his employer to take a hike when they ask him questions about it, and he was allowed to keep his job.

Thad Matta has returned to his alma mater to lead the Butler men’s basketball program as head coach for a second time. Butler Vice President/Director of Athletics Barry Collier made the announcement Sunday, April 3.

**Matta will be re-introduced to the Butler community Wednesday, April 6 at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Specific details on the event and corresponding press conference will be finalized Monday.**

In his 17 years as a college head coach, which includes stints at Butler, Ohio State and Xavier, Matta possesses an incredible record of 439-154 (.740). Matta’s teams won 20 or more games in 16 of those 17 seasons, advancing to the NCAA Tournament 13 times. His 2007 and 2012 Ohio State teams reached the Final Four.

I would not mind seeing Butler and Tennessee square off in a future home and home series.

According to a TWEET by Jon Rothstein, San Diego is closing in on a deal to hire Steve Lavin as their next head men’s basketball coach. Lavin, who has most recently been working as a college basketball TV analyst, has been the head coach at UCLA (1996-03) and St. John’s (2010-15).
