Kind of a ho-hum hire.Kevin Willard has been named the new head coach of the Maryland Men’s Basketball program as announced by Damon Evans, Barry P. Gossett Director of Athletics on Monday. Willard recently coached Seton Hall to its fifth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last six events that were played.
GW should definitely hire ManningEvery day that goes by is another day closer to Maryland removing the interim tag from Danny Manning…
Early at George Washington, but some names to keep an eye on are Miami associate head coach Chris Caputo and Yale head coach James Jones. Obviously really early here though.
I would have a hard time seeing that. Talk about trying to separate yourself from one of the true scumbags in college sports and trying to replace him with one of the great people. I don’t see Bennett taking that step.Borzello saying there are rumblings that Tony Bennett is a possibility at LSU. Can’t fathom that
Interesting name at San Diego…I have heard from multiple sources that Yale head coach James Jones is involved here. The 3x Ivy League Coach of the Year has been at Yale since 1999, and has been involved with multiple jobs over the past few years. Sounds like he’s also in the mix at George Washington as well.
South Carolina has now whiffed on Sean Miller (went back to Xavier) and Dennis Gates (sounds like he will be hired at Mizzou). Next up….the Gamecocks have interviewed Wake Forest assistant BJ McKie (South Carolina’s all-time leading scorer), and Furman head coach Bob Richey. Sounds like Murray State’s Matt McMahon could be in play here (McMahon also involved at LSU as well).
He’s a solid coach. I thought they might have gone after his predecessor, Niko, but he got locked up by CSU. If they do get him, USC will at least be more exciting to watch even if the results aren’t that much.Richey would be a solid hire for South Carolina.
He is a native of South Carolina and has done very well at Furman.
