Bailey is our QB

According to this board we would have won a bunch more this year had we switched earlier, funny thing, I don't see many of them predicting victory Sat now that the switch has been made.
Idk about a bunch more but Kentucky was winnable. A few more games were winnable. Texas AM will be one of the better teams we’ve played this year. That was never going to be an easy win. I’d say at the least Arkansas and Kentucky wouldn’t have embarrassed us if we had another qb prepared to play.

I’m afraid Pruitt’s defense will be exposed against A&M, Tennessee’s pass coverage is among the worst in the SEC
And
Pruitt was a defensive guru, until he arrived in Knoxville?

Are you not one of the we would have won had we not played JG crowd?

That's not what the NegaVol crowd has been screaming, they have nearly to a man cried and whined that we'd be winning football games without JG. I've only seen 1 or 2 even say we have a chance this weekend, a far cry from what they were saying if we'd just get rid of JG. The NegaVol faction of our fanbase is the worst collection of fans in college football I feel.

Auburn,Arkansas and Kentucky were games we could have won with good qb play. For sure Auburn and Kentucky. We outgained auburn by a bunch, but can't throw pick 6's and have turnovers. Same with Kentucky.

Bailey should be the starter unless salter can take it from him once he gets here. Bailey is legit and will only get better.
They are trying to play 3 QBs, each with one strength... Find a dude with all 3 and be done, IF Salter “aka Jesus” takes the wheel from him, let it be...

I personally don’t see much separation between the 2 QB’s, hopefully someone somewhere can develop both?

I'm curious if anyone on here knows what went down behind the scenes with the decision to bench Guarantano. It's hard for me to believe Coach Pruitt suddenly had a change of heart. Was there outside pressure? Was this Guarantano's decision etc? Don't get me wrong I absolutely think we should have went with Bailey much earlier. I believe we beat Kentucky, Auburn and Arkansas with Bailey at QB. Just curious about how it happened?
Like I said we probably won't ever know.
jmo I think it was outside pressure.

Of all the QB’s on our current roster, only 1 has an NFL arm and that’s JT Shrout. Sure he’s made some dumb throws but he’s not had much playing time. He’ll get a shot in the NFL some day and it’s a shame this staff has wasted that talent

NFL arms don't matter if you turn the ball over

Bailey looks as good as Peyton Manning did his true freshman season. Manning showed out in the bowl game vs. VA Tech that year but he did not look any better than Bailey with a terrific team around him most of that season. Manning had Cutcliffe of course and split time with another freshman, Brandon Stewart who actually looked better than Peyton initially. Shrout has potential too - not a bad combo for sure.

I know this is probably blasphemy on Volnation but initially, I thought that Brandon Stewart was more fun to watch than Manning. Stewart played a Manziel or Archie Manning style of QB.

Everyone talking about the deep throw issues, HB connected on them quite a bit in HS. It’s just a timing thing. Hasn’t worked with the REC core enough...

I hope this is the case, and not that he doesn't have the arm strength to deliver the ball to faster receivers. In some ways he reminds me of Justin Worley, good game manager and dink and dunk but too weak of an arm to "take the top off" and throw down field.

Come on Pulaski...don't tweak what posters say to fit your political Negavol agenda.

Most, from what I read, aren't saying TN would be a one or two loss team right now. Most feel that with better QB play the KY game was winnable. The score looks inflated in part due to the 17 points TN gifted them by bad QB play. The Arky game was very winnable. 17-0 at half and lost. Auburn was a winnable game too. The pick six changed the momentum. They may not have won all three, but at least one, if not two of those games, would have likely been wins if the QB play from Saturday was there at those games.

That's not Negavol, just a reality.

He is just better. Shrout may have an edge for deep throws, but that’s it. HB makes better reads and decisions.
You have to be able to throw the deep ball with some accuracy. HB has not been able to do that. Shrout has demonstrated that he is much more accurate throwing the long ball. Shrout has something that you see in all the best pro QB's--a very quick release. I think Shrout makes his reads quickly and gets the ball to the receiver quicker than Bailey. Based on what I've seen so far, Shrout could be a difference-maker whereas I see Bailey as more of a competent game manager. A game manager won't win against a highly-favored opponent. A difference-maker could.

If he was underthrowing I could see your argument....but the deep throws he's missed have been overthrows

The real issue with JTS is his decision making. His interception on Saturday is a perfect example. He threw off his back foot into coverage over the middle when he should have thrown it away. That is throw that just can't be made.

That's not reality, that is a bunch of woulda shoulda coulda. You've no idea what would have happened nor does anyone else.

I have given up arguing with the Miseralbles. They keep saying that CJP should have started one of the other three qbs after Kentucy. BM has been injured all season (he is injured again after Vandy). HB was no where near ready. JTS was schedued to start but tore his labrum in paractice. Forget CJP, CJC wanted to replace JG form jump but there were no viable options until recently.
