Bailey is our QB

Of all the QB’s on our current roster, only 1 has an NFL arm and that’s JT Shrout. Sure he’s made some dumb throws but he’s not had much playing time. He’ll get a shot in the NFL some day and it’s a shame this staff has wasted that talent

Bailey looks as good as Peyton Manning did his true freshman season. Manning showed out in the bowl game vs. VA Tech that year but he did not look any better than Bailey with a terrific team around him most of that season. Manning had Cutcliffe of course and split time with another freshman, Brandon Stewart who actually looked better than Peyton initially. Shrout has potential too - not a bad combo for sure.

Agreed. Bailey needs to work on his deep throws and not panicking too early at times but otherwise...he is the better option.

He takes care of the ball. JT Shrout can make some explosive pass plays but he takes too many chances in coverage still.

That is where I am at as well. Shrout has a beautiful deep pass. Felt Bailey’s overthrows deep were at least closer to the receiver this week.

Both QBs throw the short and mid-range passes in stride. Feel it may have been a decade since I saw receivers being hit in stride.

Difference is Bailey takes care of the ball a little better IMO at this point. Both have a huge upside and we potentially have a good QB room next year.

I just lean towards Bailey at bit more because he seems to not force it and sees the field (corners/safeties) a bit better.

It's not even close. Bailey is head and shoulders above the competition right now. Game #2 as a true Freshman and he's reading the defense well, making good decisions, and he was much more accurate this game, after struggling with a few throws last week. He's not that fast, but he knows exactly when to tuck it and run. And his only turnover was the biggest BS turnover I've ever seen; that was an incomplete pass and anyone who thinks otherwise is blind.

Shrout is better than JG and has the best arm on the team, but he still struggles with reading the defense and making decisions at times. He's definitely improved, though; he's much better than he was last season. But he's still got a way to go. 6/13 for 90 yards with an INT against a below-average SEC defense isn't going to cut it against anyone other than Vandy.

Yup. Gimme the sack over an INT basically lol

I think HB has a good enough arm for the NFL. He is over throwing on the long ball attempts. To watch him in the same game as JT is misleading because I cannot remember any of the current big time college Qb’s throwing the darts like JT is. He is just another level as far as arm strength goes.

Which is a shame. Just another reason Pruitt should be fired. He doesn’t even know talent when he sees it. Coach Shrout up and he is an NFL QB

Strout has a strong arm and is a gunslinger. Problem with him is like today throwing off his back foot and into double coverage. I like him but Bailey is better all around.

I like that UT seems to have 2 good QBs now. Shrout was shaky until today, IMO.

Receivers helped them both out today. I hope they can bring the A game back for the rest of the season. WRs could outplay Vandy prett easily, but the real SEC defenses are putting the hurt on them so far. The underclassmen seem to to outhustle the upperclassmen. Velus Jones finally looked like he might have something special on his TD. I am very disappointed in his quiet season. He needs to play next year and step it up in a huge way.

His quiet was probably due to JG. The other receivers are also likely hurt by the same.
