Any update on Joey?

Yeah the courts are super slow but a judge has already given Pavia a year so there is that precedence, I think Joey and the others on the suit will get an injunction because schools need to know how they need to proceed with the portal.
I asked DeerPark about precedent from the Pavia case but he said they are different legally. I'm not an attorney but he is. His answer:

No, because that injunction is what allowed Joey to play this year. The argument for next year is very different. The argument for last year was that players that were in junior college didn’t automatically get the fifth year like players that were in power five schools did. This year‘s argument is that time at junior college should not count against eligibility at all, which is a completely different situation and one that is not likely to succeed.

I love and appreciate what JA was able to do this year, but I don't think we can get much more out of him than what we seen this year. Much like Joe Milton, he is what he is.
LOL. JA is currently sitting at #4 all time for passing yards in a single season. He has a chance to pass none other than the Sherriff for number 1 all time with a 400 yard performance in the bowl game.

Now, is he as good as Peyton, or a host of other Vol greats we've had at the QB position? Defintiley not on Peyton and Probably not to many others, but to sit here and be like "pffff" at him coming back another year and throwing for 3500 yards acting like his ceiling is just "meh or okay" is quite silly.

If you gave me the option right now to take JA one more year versus any pick of the current portal QBs, Im taking JA. I think hed be even better in a second year under JH. Heck. If he just duplicates what he did this year we are set to have another great offense in 26. Just have to fix that defense.

Yup. Don’t think they’ll be able to use the JUCO classes count toward your 4 yr as an argument. Like you said I don’t think you can say JUCO football counts but then say HS players taking JUCO classes, those HS years don’t count.

I think it’s just going to boil down to JUCO football isn’t under NCAA rules so NCAA rules don’t apply in regards to sports.
Will just further fire the 5 to play 5 movement, regardless of if you play or where you play. Your clock starts post HS period.

It is the backup QB, or the QB not here is always better than the starter mentality.

Probably good that social media did not exist like this when Peyton was playing.

I’m sorry. I love what JA brought to us this year.

And my beef is much greater than him.

But are we going to a place where players can play through graduate school? All the way through a PhD?

Where does it stop? Because it already is ridiculous. And I hate to think where it could end up with 30-year-olds living off NIL in college football. It’s getting ridiculous.
There obviously has to be an age limit. 25, tops.

Issue I have is pros, coming back to play. That's stupid.

It is JUCO and other prep schools that is the question.

But let's say you have a HS player that for whatever reason, needs to complete some classes at JUCO before they can enter the college of their choice. So, when they get to campus, they have 4 to play 4. Is that an exception?

And then do you also remove the delay related to missionary and / or military years that a student may partake in, thus forcing them to defer those until after they have completed their college 5 to play 5? So, at 18, if they decided to do missionary work for 2 years, they only have 3 years to play 3 left.

Why should there be an age limit? And don't say it is because you have to match the age of the other students - the players who will play in the NFL are going to be 22ish playing with and against 30+ year old men.

Because legally it's arbitrary, I believe, because someone may not start college for a number of reasons or have college interrupted for a number of reasons.

You're just asking to be sued which is why no age limit exists now.

Exactly - it is why the NCAA has avoided the age limit at all costs.

they really need a collegiate commissioner not named the ncaa or sankey.

the issues are pros playing college, multiple transfers, and tampering.

obviously with a veteran they could seek a waiver.

The NCAA business model is illegal per the Supreme Court and only Congress can fix it.

No organization similar to the NCAA, that is: a non pro model organization, can be formed at this point which would be legal.

The NCAA or any other non pro organization will get sued trying to enforce transfer limits, as we've seen.

Tampering is virtually impossible to stop as was paying players under the table previously.

The issue is: the game needs to go to a pro model, collective bargain with the employee players, and enjoy a partial implied Antitrust Exemption to regulate the things you want regulated.

If you're okay with college going pro, you can have your wish.

Which pro players (that are receiving money from the pros) is playing at colleges?

He got drafted but never got paid in the US.

My issue with him is that he was already a pro player in Europe.
It is a terrible loophole…… He is apart of this injunction

MLB and the NHL always draft young guys, but they can still play college sports.
Once those guys graduate, they are not bound to those earlier draft picks.

That would solve it too. I don’t have a problem with but I can also see the JUCO years not counting.
