Any update on Joey?

I think we’ll know if JA gets an injunction by the time the portal opens. Pavia is goin got trt his luck at the NFL. Joey isn’t the only on that suit. Lawyers will say schools need relief and need to know how to proceed with going to the portal or not.

I think he’ll get the injunction but wouldn’t rule out CJH having feelers out already. Even if JA gets the injunction no guarantee he’ll be at TN and if he’s not I think another school would easily pick him up.
I hope you're right. That would make all this way easier. I'm not a lawyer or anything. But my job does have me navigating the court system regularly and things rarely happen quickly in my experience.

Yeah the courts are super slow but a judge has already given Pavia a year so there is that precedence, I think Joey and the others on the suit will get an injunction because schools need to know how they need to proceed with the portal.

You'd think so. The timing with the Holiday is @#$%* though. I wish the portal opened in February instead of January. I'd feel more confident about the whole thing.

Yup especially the way the holidays fell this year but since a judge has granted one before, there would be precedence and seems like it would be easy to get it before him and he grants another one.
It's the same law suit so nothing new really needs to be heard

Sure. But the not knowing still has an effect out Tennessee's ability to sign a QB in the portal and creates a potential QB controversy if he gets the injunction. It doesn't matter for Joey if you think he's definitely the starter even if a high profile portal QB gets signed. But, I don't think that's a given, and it would potentially create complications for the program if that were to occur.

The whole thing is a mess.

If the injunction isn't in place before the portal opens, JA hitting the portal gives everyone options. I don't like it. But what else can be done? We can't wait on a ruling and Joey needs to look out for number one.
Thought the date was in December? We’re overthinking all this for the benefit of angst.

Yes but the Juco classes count so why wouldn’t football time? I would think the 2 go hand in hand hand!

Some take JUCO classes in high school while playing high school football - so if you believe it is based to taking classes and them counting, then why wouldn't the high school years count as well??

Yup. Don’t think they’ll be able to use the JUCO classes count toward your 4 yr as an argument. Like you said I don’t think you can say JUCO football counts but then say HS players taking JUCO classes, those HS years don’t count.

I think it’s just going to boil down to JUCO football isn’t under NCAA rules so NCAA rules don’t apply in regards to sports.

They are giving Joey all the starter reps in bowl two so that means something. If you don’t think he’ll okay why not give it to GMac?

What happens if the NCAA files an appeal to the court?

I think that was the deadline for the NCAA to respond? I am not aware of any deadline on a judge deciding a case or issuing an injunction. We definitely won't get a decision on the case for months, at least. We need a temporary injunction to let Joey play. If that doesn't happen before Jan 2nd... we're in a pickle. The portal is only open for 15 days.

There has to be a decision to appeal first. The injunction would just let Joey play in the mean time until a decision is reached. Last year Pavia got a similar temporary injunction and the NCAA issued a waiver to all other players in that situation. It allowed Joey to play this year. The case Joey is trying to get an injunction on right now, is still that same one. There hasn't been a decision on it yet. His situation is slightly different than Pavia. It wouldn't surprise me if he gets an injunction though. He has only played 3 years past Juco, just like Pavia. But it absolutely needs to happen before before 01/17, when the portal closes, to help us and will still cause chaos for us if it doesn't happen by 01/02, when the portal opens.

Or at least that's my understanding of the situation.

Heuple has all stated that GM is getting plenty of those reps too.
But Joey is the starter for the bowl game not GMac. Plus I don’t trust what coach huep says bc it’s always coach speak, which is fine bc why not keep things close to the vest? I get it.

Sure JA is going to be the starter.

They could but they won’t.
I think the NCAA is at the oh well we tried but there was an injunction last year to allow Pavia to play so a judge is more likely to allow an injunction to stay in this case if one is ordered and wait for a final ruling rather than over turn it on appeal at least in this case.

Since the portal opens this week. Hopefully we’ll know one way or the other in if an injunction is ordered.

Yikes, what a take! Not too shocking that GMAC is getting lots of reps as the newly elevated to backup from 3rd team with MERKS departure. NOT shocking that the starter all season is starting.

On one hand would love to see GMAC get some REAL reps, but on the other hand if he excelled it might create some heavy competition and put him in that CRAZY portal offer mode whether he is skinny or not. Will let coach make those calls.

This is one of the best legal arguments I have heard that has a chance to overturn things for the players eligibility.

Uh…..not really lol. CJH always does “coach speak,” look at how he handled info regarding Jermod McCoy all year. Every week was “maybe he’ll play maybe he won’t.”

I love and appreciate what JA was able to do this year, but I don't think we can get much more out of him than what we seen this year. Much like Joe Milton, he is what he is.
