Any better than Dooley?

Dooley should have beat LSU in his first year but didn't.
Dooley beat Cincy when he played Jones with this talent we see on the field now.

Jones almost beat UGA (minus two of their best O players). We did beat SC with a great play by North but every other competitive game has been a blowout and now we are seeing the team flat out give up.

I love the energy Jones brings, the cute slogans etc. but lets be honest....Dooley would have fared just as well this year. We see the exact same level of intensity that Dooley produced with pretty much the exact same results.

When SEC rivals set new records against team 117 it is not improvement. We simply have not improved one iota under Jones and it has me concerned that this turn around (if we are having one) is going to be a lot longer than many of us have the stomach for.

Fire away...

no, after seeing the second half tank this year i have no faith in jones at all. turns out i was right when laughing at his best staff comments. won't buy into his BS again. gonna be along 3 years till the coaching search yet again takes place. just hope hart is long gone by then

Wait a minute. Wait just a minute. We were inches and a finger length away from beating Georgia too. We had to start a new QB against Florida but ended up playing a neck to neck ballgame in the 2nd half against Florida after switching the QB and had we not been forced to try a new QB, we might have been in that game. And I'm not sure about you but last night for 1 min and 30 seconds I actually celebrated with the utmost joy our win against Vanderbilt that put us in a bowl game this year. It's been a better year even though we had the TOUGHEST schedule in NCAA football.

So many posters on here argued against me for 2 years, saying Dooley was the man.

Now, same guys are arguing with me saying Butch is not.

Looks like I will be 2-0.

I had fun playing devils advocate back then. The truth is I waited till the end of yr 2 to decide what I thought. Butch appears to be doing much better Dooley in recuiting though. So at least if Butch fails the next guy will start with some players

What a miserable season, bunch of close games though....Could somebody please list the things Butch has proven to be the best man for the job? Dooley had a better first season and he ended up getting canned so how do we know the tide won't turn against Butch as well down the road? Ultimately we should have never fired Fulmer as we would no doubt be better off right now instead of looking like jackasses going through all these coaches

I said before the season 6-6 would be a stretch.

People are lost of they couldn't tell this team had nothing on offense to work with and a defense made up mostly from the previous defense. The worst defense in history.

This team beat USC and played Vandy better than UF or UGA did. Also played Vandy much better than it did last year.

well I hate to break it to you, but not going to a bowl game really hurts your recruiting class, if you can't understand that concept you don't understand college football

Check back on national signing day to see how wrong you are.

Name the guy we should have hired. Needs to be someone who would actually take the job. Fulmer was done.it was time for him to go. He never did anything without Coach Cut. Even though I was against it at the time....Cut is who we should have hired.

That is Unless I'm a recruit who wants to get early playing time with a major college football program. And I wonder how many top recruits want that? So I hate to break it to you this way so YOU may not understand college football either. Or I don't know, maybe I am wrong.

My work puts me in touch with many former players. They all feel like you do.
All I know for sure is CBJ is better than the last guy and he will get a min of 3 years. I hope you're right.

yes we should have hired Cut no doubt, but I guess Hamilton thought he needed somebody that would have brought a little more enthusiasm cause the large impatient part of our fan base would have not been satisfied.....so frustrating...look what he is doing at Duke

We're good and in good hands. Don't worry.

Future is bright.

It's time for this staff to move on and we need a fresh start. It's so obvious that he is a Mac level coach. Can't hack it in the SEC.

I'm not for firing Jones after 1 year, but I do question some of his decisions, ie.

"Jones' strangest decision might have been to bench Justin Worley and give redshirt freshman Nathan Peterman his first career start on the road and in front of 90,000".

"The Vols ended up wasting the trip to the red zone when they faked a 39-yard field-goal attempt and Palardy's pass was picked off by Paris Head."

that's coaching decisions and there have been others

We lost by 4.

He knew that FG was irrelevant. He knew he needed 7.

It's because he is a terrible coach. No way we lose this game with all the talent we have. He blew it

That's the UT way just accept the first guy to say yes instead of going after your #1 guy and don't take no for an amswer

#3 - A second half comeback over #6 Georgia to win the ball game late in the 4th Qtr, THE FANS WENT CRAZY (including YOU) until a video review showed that we lost control of the ball moments before crossing the goal line.
