Ok, LSU vs Texas tomorrow as well as SC vs OK. With FJ out for LSU I will take Texas in that one. Could still be tight. SC beat OK by 40 the first go around, I pick SC again but by a much closer margin. If I’m correct, which I may not be, it seems Texas and SC are headed for a collision course rubber matchup. Probably can flip a coin again to decide that one if it happens. Pushed into a corner I think I would go SC, but that is a tough call between two equal type teams. OK and LSU will have something to say about all that tomorrow.
It’s been a helluva season for the SEC, and WBB overall. TBH, my most vivid thoughts on this season so far are about a myriad of WBB events…..JuJu and USC, Hidalgo and ND, Betts and UCLA are some of the positive thoughts. Uconn blowing out SC at Columbia is a negative thought. UT beating UConn in Knoxville is a positive thought. Mostly though, the season was the most competitive I have witnessed in the 14 years I have followed closely, and that is a good sign for the game of WBB.
It was a good year for the sport. A year to build upon, and a year that will take another step forward towards the growth of this game of WBB that we all love to watch. And so many amazing young players enter the collegiate ranks every year now. I’m most interested in watching the new waves as they join college teams, but I keep my eyes on the players already here that are excelling.
It’s amazing how much this game has grown the past 4-5 years. 19 million people reportedly watched the women’s NC game last year on some venue. Hard to believe, but it outdrew the men’s championship game. Clark was a big part of it, but she helped usher in the new era.
”It is the first time the women's title game outdrew the men. It also was the second most-watched non-Olympic women's sporting event on US television. The Sunday afternoon game averaged 18.9m viewers on ABC and ESPN while UConn's 75-60 victory over Purdue in Monday night's men's final on TBS and TNT averaged 14.82m.”
