I think leadership manifests in a variety of manner.
And your view on proper leadership in most venues is absolutely correct.
Tact is a lost art. Patience even more so.

I'd be glad to. No one is more important than the team and that includes the guy who may well be the best player on the team.

Nobody including Kyberson said anything about Cade wanting to guard had anything to do with his NFL aspirations.

Yeah. They did say he wanted to play OG in the context of his NFL goals.

Maybe Mays feels he can help the team best at guard. Only natural for player to want to play where he can contribute the most to the team.

Have you ever played or been part of a successful team of any kind? Players don't really even need to let these kinds of thoughts come to mind. There has to be trust on the part of the players that the coaches are making the best possible decision... even if they're not. Player doubt is worse than coach error in cases like this.

Another thing that Kyberson said that I didn’t hear that was brought up by another poster was that Cooper is a little small and may get shoved around by SEC NT’s. I went back and heard it for myself. If that is the case and if Spraggins is everything they say and you say then maybe move Carvin to center. Spraggins and Mays at guard, Wright and Davis at tackle gives you the best five. If this OL starting five is now set given the nuisance about Cooper then I wonder if Ellerbe is trying to keep Daddy Mays happy. Hope not !!!

I trust this staff more than any we've had in a long time when it comes to doing the right thing for the right reasons. I believe these are the top 5 because they've earned that right.

There are several options and combos. There will likely be at least 8 guys who rotate regularly. Ellarbee said 10. If one of those combos works better then the starters will change. One or more of those combos will have Mays at OG. I believe they experimented with Carvin at C for a while so that could allow Mays back to OG as well.

The main point is that these reporters are just telling what they're seeing. They are seeing a starting 5. That five MUST have at least 3 more guys in a starting rotation.

It’s football! I’d be worried if there was not a few fights! Jeez, did any of you ever even play the game? I don’t remember many days when someone didn’t get into it.

And again for the hundredth time they only see warmups and a few drills. Again you interject your opinions that really don’t mean ****. And yes I have played on championship basketball teams in high school and as walk on at Tennessee. So again I don’t need you to lecture me on what a team player is and all that other BS. Cade Mays I am sure will play RT if told and will be fine and not say a word or demonstrate an attitude. But no coach or jerk off fan can make him like it. That is just human nature.

You trust the Knoxville media and take their word to the bank. Fine it’s still your right to do so. I have been following UT football for 50 years and in preseason outside of the bits and pieces they get from managers etc they offer little except speculation etc. I never take their word to the bank.

I thought I had heard someone say that Cade Mays wanted to play at tackle to show he is more versatile to help his nfl draft stock. I guess he has already gotten plenty of film at guard. I haven't heard the podcast yall are talking about. I wonder what the actual truth is. Or does he even care?

Guy. They see more than that. Some see portions of practice that they can't report. ALL have sources that watch practice every day. Guys like Kerbyson and other former players are allowed to watch team on team portions of practice. It isn't an "opinion". Again, why is this so offensive to you that these might be the 5 best guys right now? This isn't one member of the media going off the ranch and making claims. This is pretty much everyone with access or contacts.

What were you saying about knowing what a team player is? A team player wouldn't need to be told to "like it". A team player's singular goal is to do whatever they can to help the team win which starts with buying into the coaches and their decisions.

Bailey is going to have a good college career, just not sure if it will be in orange. The system doesn’t fit him, really no ones fault, just circumstance. I think he is a great rising young quarterback and the way he handles the next month or two will be vital to his college career.

You are correct about one thing. I don’t have the evidence those five mentioned today aren’t the best but neither do you have the evidence they are either. However I am using Kyberson’s opinion over the Knoxville media. So I will go with Kyberson ! I bet you think Jimmy Hyams is a great accurate reporter as well. And again I won’t be offended if Cade Mays starts at tackle in the first game !

Now I might be offended if Cooper is getting pushed back into Milton’s lap in SEC games and is not replaced by Carvin. And I will be offended if we have no inside running game on the right side cause Mays is stuck a tackle. Will see how it shakes out in the next two weeks in the meantime I will awaiting Heupel’s announcement on the starting OL tomorrow since the media has declared it. LOL !!!

He has a lot of talent but it's hard to know where he would fit as long as it's not someone we play I will be fine with it. If he does transfer I don't want to hear anymore from him because like you said he is going to have a good college career I just don't want to be a stat in it.
