2016-2017 Vols

I'm not saying I won't watch. I knew last year was gonna be bad. Clownzo's last season I was still looking forward to. I was semi-excited for the Tyndall terror.

I wasn't expecting a miracle overnight from Barnes, but to this point the recruiting has left something to be desired.

I hope Turner turns out to be as good as expected.

I hear ya. Can't lie, the Tyndall terror part got me laughing. While I think it would have improved, how bad it was at keeping an eye on the shooter still has me scratching my head.

Me too. Will definitely be interesting, one way or the other. Likely the other, but they just show potential and crazy effort I'd be ecstatic.

I want to see well coached, highly disciplined players putting in maximum effort. But with 10 of 13 scholarship players being freshmen and sophomores, I'm not holding my breath. But if anybody slacks off... there will be another guy behind home ready to take the spot and with little if any drop off in talent.

I will be very surprised if one of the walk ons takes say significant minutes from somebody like what occurred in 2015-16 late in season.

I will say the turn around of Punter was surprising.

That was certainly true. His shot change made by Rick Barnes helped his career immensely. He had a terrible looking shot when Barnes took over as coach. Punter didn't have to listen to Barnes & he could have told Barnes he would rather not mess with his shot but he didn't.

Boy, did it change his game completely. He actually has a beautiful looking shot now. Barnes made Punter into a great SEC player when otherwise he wouldn't have been much at all in the SEC as a senior. Punter now has not only a shot at possibly playing in the NBA but most definitely a career overseas.

Tyndall was looking like a genius through about December. Then the SEC level of competition pretty much wiped out that dream.

Not to attack, but his shot wasn't made by Rick Barnes. It was tweaked by him, but created and worked on by KP.

The planets lined up for Punter. He had the resources provided to him and he had the work ethic to make it happen. Too bad the failed posts didn't have the same drive as Punter.

That starting 5 running the break gets me frothy. That's a lot of athleticism mixed with a true PG.

I know we still lack size, but with Barnes' uptempo and all the great athleticism, we're gonna be a good team. Turner, Phillips, and Mostella provide top tier guard play...especially if Philips and Mostella get a bit more consistent. I think Admiral is gonna be a force at the 4. If 2 of the freshmen play well...which I think they will, we should have a solid 8 man rotation that can run all game. Hopefully Alexander really has improved this summer. He could prove to be key to success.

Rebounding and rim protection to me are key areas of concern. Not a fan of small ball, but I get it as a trend with today's athletes.

The Maui bracket was just released. We will play Wisconsin in the first game. Here is the rest of the bracket.

Georgetown would be the 2nd best chance at a w. No clue what their roster looks like next yr, but JT3 can lose to anybody.

well this is a depressing page.......we go winless in Hawaii and Bruce Pearl is recruiting well at Auburn

No easy road there, facing Chaminade may be our only chance at a W

We could maybe beat Chaminade if we play them. D2

that's a very big maybe

Chaminade actually performed decently well last season in the tourney. I think they finished 5th but I can't remember for sure.

I just know I watched them play a couple times & they looked like a decent team. I have no idea who they have coming back but I don't know if we can beat them or not regardless.
