2016-2017 Vols

BP14 said that Tyndall played Hubbs at the 4 some and he played well. You responded by saying it was only due to an injury to Schofield, and that isn't true because Schofield never played for Tyndall. How do you not understand that?

Same thing I said lol just read this.

I was under the thinking of Barnes though & not Tyndall. I didn't correct him on it though. But, I honestly was thinking of Barnes & not Tyndall because like somebody said Schofield didn't play for Tyndall. He only played for Barnes.

Now, let's keep making this a big deal guys like always. I know what I meant & it wasn't anything to do with Tyndall. Barnes was on my mind as the coach saying what I did in that post the whole time.

I don't care who & if anybody believes me or not. You'll just like to try & get under people's skin for some of the silliest things! :eek:hmy:

Hubbs starting at the #4? I don't get that. Hubbs will get eaten up inside by players much bigger & stronger than him. He can certainly play the 3 but I'm sorry but I don't have any confidence in him playing the 4. It's going to hurt him both defensively & offensively.

This will also knock Schofield back to what 3rd on the depth chart playing the 4? That's not gonna happen. Schofield should be starting at the 4 in my opinion. Either Alexander or Evans starting at the 5.

Grant Williams should be backup to Schofield at 4 & both see pretty equal playing time with Schofield maybe getting 22-24 minutes compared to Williams getting 16-18 minutes per game. Schofield is not a 2.

He's a 4 with sometimes playing the 3. Phillips is a 2 with sometimes playing the 1. Can he play the 3? Probably so, but he's better off at the 2 or part time at the 1.

I agree on one thing you have listed above. Turner should start at PG. I personally would have either Mostella or Hubbs at SG. Probably best for Mostella to start at SG while Hubbs at SF. Schofield at PF. Either Evans or Alexander at C.

That's how I see our starting 5. The bench is an educated guess. I think Johnson will end up redshirting. So, Evans/Alexander, Williams, Bone, Bowden, Fulkerson, & Parker fighting for minutes off the bench for the last 6 in the rotation of 11 players. I think they all 11 will play depending on who redshirts too though. Thanks!

TN's lineup likely gets adjusted versus better opponents to present matchup problems. That could put Hubbs at the 4. I actually think that he has played better offensively in the paint than on the 3-point line. His best move is cutting to the basket and shooting pull up jumpers from 12-15 feet. That's a fairly rare skill for this generation of players.

It's the 4 on defense mostly is what I said that's going to hurt him. He will be guarding players taller & stronger than him.

He can make up for some of this with his skills & athletic ability but if a guy is 6'7"-6'8"+ at the 4 Hubbs is going to have problems guarding this type of player.

He can probably handle his own at the 4 on the offensive end unless he ends up being guarded by a taller & stronger player.

Good. A mod removed some of these un-necessary posts that happened recently. Thanks for whoever done that. Makes the forums look bad if they are left to look at.

I'm gonna agree that Hubbs has no Business playing the 4. This team will be fun to watch but will struggle against elite competition.

Turner/Bone
Mostella/ Phillips
Hubbs/Bowden
Schofield/G.Williams/Fulk
Evans/Alexander

That should be our best lineup imo. Parker would be next man up if injury bug hits. Johnson should redshirt to strength up and spread the class out.

Hubbs at the 4? This staff has ruined him.

So is Vq saying hubbs at the 4 and williams starting at the 5 or 3?

Those saying Hubbs can't play the 4 because he'll get manhandled...do you recall the game against Michigan a few years back? GR3 played the 4 for UM, Maymon was the 4 for UT. GR3 was too much for Maymon and UT wa forced to go small, my point? It depends on style being played and how well you play it, GR3 was the better player, if Hubbs can be the better players do we play a style that fits that type of lineup, his lack of size won't be a major issue.

Dane Bradshaw played the 4. Think outside of the box.

Dane Bradshaw was a banger with some strength. He wasn't a perimeter player at all. Hubbs is a totally different type of player that has more athleticism & skillset. He's not suited for the 4 at all. He's a SG or SF period.

It's not the NBA. Hubbs will be fine at the 4 if that's were he plays. Defenses are usually set up to help out with mismatches too.
