I see several people saying that it would be dumb for Scroggins to go to USC because they would sign a stud QB in a future class. What makes you so sure we wouldn't do the same thing? The problem we've had with QB recruiting this year is that not only were there fewer elite QBs in this class than usual, but almost all of them were from the West Coast. We should have a much better chance of signing a top-notch QB in 2011, because not only will there be more talent available, but many of them are from the Southeast. Even if we somehow end up getting Scroggins, I think there's a good chance that we "recruit over" him with a better QB in 2011. JMO
I'm amazed at how many fans have overlooked the single-most telling fact in the Scroggins recruiting saga...
While in Knoxville, he was too injured to perform. Yet just days later when given the chance to show Coach Carrol and the USC staff what he was made of, he put on his dancing shoes.
Anyone who knows anything about human behavior and motivation recognizes this for what it is. Put yourself in a similar scenario. You've likely had a job interview for a job that you certainly wouldn't mind having and also have had a job interview for a job you absolutely coveted. Think about how your behavior may have differed...
I wish Scroggins the best and look forward to landing Rettig and/or whomever our future QB will be.
Go Big Orange!
I'm almost to the point where I say screw it, sign Lamaison, Rettig, and Grayson and let's get on with business. JS can have his family come watch him ride the bench all he wants at USC.
...of course, this is the reason I wouldn't be a good recruiter. I would still take JS in a heartbeat.

I'd say the 2006 SEC Championship Game indicates otherwise.
http://www.govolsxtra.com/news/2009/jul/07/qb-search-continues-ut-offers-rettig/As for Scroggins, there's certainly a belief that his family is split between UT and USC. A source close to the situation believes that he is still undecided.
