haha ainge, you dnt "frequent much". how does a guy who has 4,456 posts not "frequent much?" :p

I am willing to say that Scroggins will not be a Vol with the Rettig offer.

Why? I know nothing about what Scroggins is thinking but all of his comments lately seem to indicate that he hasn't made a final decision yet.

If he thinks he can't beat Rettig out then what would make him think he'll ever start for UF or USC?

I'm honestly not sure why the coaches didn't go ahead and pull the trigger on Rettig awhile back. If Scroggins wants to go to UT then he'll commit to UT regardless.

because they were showing Scroggins that he is the main target for our team. offering Rettig speaks volumes.

I think the Rettig offer pretty much seals our fate with Scroggins decision. If we offer the kid from WA this week....we might not even like our chances anymore with Chase. Hopefully in 3 years we are happy we didnt get JS as Chase is leading us to a SEC title.

But they've never made any bones about taking two QB's this year and possibly a third if Lamaison back counts to 09. They could still tell him that he was their #1 guy... but they wanted to be sure they would end up with at least one quality guy.

BTW, I think Meyer has been in Scroggins' ear big time. He mentioned secondary violations as if they were a big concern... and Carroll has a couple of good reasons not to be playing that card. One, he recommended CLK. Two, Reggie Bush.

Meyer lies to the kid about modifying his O then plays up something pretty minor. If this kid ends up at UF... he's a fool.

1. Florida is not getting Scroggins.
2. Scroggins and Rettig are main targets of programs, Neither are gonna be 2nd to any other QB recruit in this class.

Guys... How many of you think the current coaches are better than CPF and staff in 2004? They got Schaeffer and Ainge to sign in the same class.

JS may have told them to look elsewhere or they may be turning the heat up on him.

Not comparable at all. This staff has been together less than a year.....that one has mainly been together for over a decade and had a lot of success to pitch.

Let me rephrase that. Florida will not get Scroggins if he can see through their BS. If he can't then they deserve each other.

Agree with that.

Has anyone considered that someone close to Rettig might have given UT a heads up that he was thinking about committing to BC?

CLK's hand might have been forced a little and especially if they're starting to believe there's not a big gap between Rettig and Scroggins.

I'm amazed at how many fans have overlooked the single-most telling fact in the Scroggins recruiting saga...

While in Knoxville, he was too injured to perform. Yet just days later when given the chance to show Coach Carrol and the USC staff what he was made of, he put on his dancing shoes.

Anyone who knows anything about human behavior and motivation recognizes this for what it is. Put yourself in a similar scenario. You've likely had a job interview for a job that you certainly wouldn't mind having and also have had a job interview for a job you absolutely coveted. Think about how your behavior may have differed...

I wish Scroggins the best and look forward to landing Rettig and/or whomever our future QB will be.

Go Big Orange!

I tend to think "what can be the harm in offering." If it is true he was gearing up to commit to BC then hopefully we threw a wrench in that plan. For all we know, the offer may have happened because we're getting some kind of word that Jesse is not going to go with us. If he commits to USC then oh well, if he commits to UF that is going to sting a little bit.
