Anyone know of a place that shows how many kids have transferred from USC? I would think it would be considerably higher than most schools due to the number of 4 and 5 *s they sign year in and year out.

IMO, just because we offered Rettig, doesn't mean we have given hope on Scroggins. If you read the ESPN article, it said that he was going to commit to BC today. Perhaps the coaches got wind of this and were afraid to lose Rettig as the #2 QB. It doesn't particularly mean that they know that Scroggins is USC bound.

I would think that Kiffin sent Scroggins a signal last week with the article that stated that we need a QB. They probably told him after a certain date that we were going to start moving into other offers. Hubb's article that Scroggins was sticking to his July 25th date sent a message to UT that he is not in Kiffin's plan.

The result today is an offer to Rettig and here we go.

Going to feel real bad for Jesse when/if he goes to USC and he never really starts. Just because he's going to redshirt and wait for Barkley to leave doesn't mean he's guaranteed the starting spot when he's gone. More than likely USC will have brought in a QB in the next couple of classes that is quite a bit better.
That's the real kicker. If there's a five star QB next year from California, chances are high he goes to USC. What if there's a Barkley in next year's class? Jesse may never see the field. This will not happen at Tennessee. And Cassel is the exception not the rule. He was extremely lucky to end up in the situation he was in. And it was more so that Pats system (and talent) and McDaniels than it was what he learned at USC.

Not necessarily true...JMO

I would ne OK with him riding the bench at USC. Just do not want him sitting on the bench at Florida. It is just as likely that he would be on the bench at Florida also.

Guys, I don't frequent over here and I know QBs don't usually decommit but it don't matter if he gives them a Verbal or not, it doesn't matter until the LOI is signed...JMO

I see several people saying that it would be dumb for Scroggins to go to USC because they would sign a stud QB in a future class. What makes you so sure we wouldn't do the same thing? The problem we've had with QB recruiting this year is that not only were there fewer elite QBs in this class than usual, but almost all of them were from the West Coast. We should have a much better chance of signing a top-notch QB in 2011, because not only will there be more talent available, but many of them are from the Southeast. Even if we somehow end up getting Scroggins, I think there's a good chance that we "recruit over" him with a better QB in 2011. JMO

I don't know why, but I actually think JS could still be headed to UT. Rettig didn't mention USC once in his interview and said that he was ready to pull the trigger on BC. The reason:

JS is headed to UT and Bray is going to get the USC offer.

The fact is that UT has put them in a situation to land either Scroggins or Rettig. The reports on Rettig this summer coming out of camps seem to elude to the fact that he might be highly underated but the fall will tell. He also just got added to the Under Armor All-American roster so others see a good upside to him. Who knows maybe both end up at UT.

AWESOME. thanks!

It gained some steam today, particularly with FlaVol (or whatever his username is) at TOS saying he was heading to USC.
Like I said, I don't frequent much but I keep up with recruiting enough to know QBs don't usually decommit from one place for another but just because he gives a "verbal" doesn't mean its set in stone
