If Jalen thought about leaving it speaks more to his character that he is still here, playing hard, and helping us win football games. He's finishing what he started and there's something to be said for that. He's a tough kid, and I hope he has a long and fruitful career.
It's pretty amazing. Everyone knows at this point that you can't arm tackle him and that he's much faster than he looks, and yet every week we see him truck through and outrun defenders.
The backlash from fans is pretty goofy. The commemorative stuff was for the players, not us. Let them enjoy their win and the memories that come with it - including a ring and some t-shirts.
People make mistakes. He manned up and called Butch after 2 weeks. I think we can give him a pass considering he got us 15 yards while up in that one VT player's grill.
I can see working on some basics in an opening game, but "being vanilla to hide the playbook" doesn't really seem like something you do 3-4 years into a coaching tenure. The SEC has plenty of game film on our offense, and minus adding a wrinkle here or there we all know what to expect.
Totally, most people don't even remember early losses let alone an ugly win. Look at the number of 1-Loss teams that went on to good bowls after dropping an early game to an inferior opponent. Then look at the undefeated teams who dropped one late in the season only to get jumped in the rankings...
Off the top of my head the only one I can even think of is the South Korean company known for doing all the "life-like" officially licensed comic book movie characters. Hot Toys I believe they are called.
5-year clock, right? I'll be surprised if some NFL team doesn't take a flyer on him after this year, even if it's to convert him to a different position. Of course, if I were an elite athlete and had the option of playing in the NFL or for the MLB I would choose baseball every time.
This thread took a weird turn, but I wanted to say twitter has that 140 character limit (or whatever it is). So, seeing shorthand spelling in a tweet shouldn't shock anybody.
I figure it'll be like every other UT game this year. We'll score a bunch of points, but it'll come down to whether or not the D can stop Alabama late in the game at least once or twice.
