Not a single minute or dime has gone to any of those in 2016. It's also won't for the remainder.

Personally, I don't give a crap what their political views are as a board of trustees. But when a sports network dives outside of their material, it becomes a niche channel. MTV is a niche channel. It's irrelevant because of that. ESPN doesn't need to wander into the political forum. They can report on sports and make a substantial amount of money. Have the insiders and recruiting subscriptions like they do and bank. But because they are unnecessarily alienating a massive chunk of the population with their political views, they are losing that money. And for what? There's zero benefit to it. I'm not supporting an incompetent company. jmo

so you dont watch Tennessee play? idk who your cable provider is but im pretty sure it carries espn and abc so yes they do get a dime from you.

I've already addressed this. I'm watching Tennessee games. That's it. history, Disney world, Disney, etc aren't getting a dime or minute from me.

I understand Disney owns espn and ABC but they are getting viewership from me less than .5% of their coverage.

They aren't getting subscriptions outside of forced ones by a cable company.

The market is changing and soon you'll be able to select the channels you want to have and pay for those. espn will be cut by alot of folks.

It's amazing how many Americans are paying the $6.00 for ESPN that's included in their bundle. A lot don't realize it. Most channels are less than $1 per subscription.

heard about this while watching, and forgive me, Finbuam yesterday after work.....i think they will still do the piece just later in the year, or am i incorrect?


not saying they should have moved it, but it wont be tossed away....or at least thats my understanding

I love that people's hatred of Caitlyn Jenner and ESPN's notorious bias against us made it into this thread somehow. Never change, VolNation.

ESPN is probably just making room for the Travis Rudolph story. Expect the Dobbs piece later this month.

the perfect home for it was on site at bristol where Tennessee is playing. so espn makes no sense when they say that. If UT won 41-10 last week this story would not have been ditched. sad.

Not really. GameDay is going to be in Tennessee at a Tennessee landmark for a Tennessee game and dropped a story about the Tennessee Champion for the Children's Miracle Network. It's the biggest game in football history, they've been hyping it for months, and with the Cuckseys' upcoming appearances and charity fundraisers this fall relying upon the national coverage I hardly think I'll be eating any crow. To drop a story about a child with inoperable brain tumors during Childhood Cancer Awareness month is ridiculous and heartless. Even FSU fans are RT the story. Besides, crow is tasty with enough salt and pepper.

The thing for me is that this kid has been looking forward to this feature since July, when ESPN filmed it. To take it away this week is like telling AJ Santa doesn't exist three days before Christmas Eve.

At this point, all anyone can do is hope to make him feel a little better. If we can get signs with the #CuckseyStrong hashtag, or the logo from the t-shirt (and their crowdsourcing campaign went live last night with 100% of the proceeds going to ETCH) or AJ's face, it might make him feel better.

I was the one who called Finebaum yesterday, and he very graciously gave me the platform to get the word out. With former players and other media platforms starting to get the story out this morning, it's a great chance to hopefully make AJ a little happier come Saturday. And that's all I or anyone associated with this want--AJ Cucksey's happiness. So if Vol Nation responds as we hope they will, maybe AJ will spend Saturday morning with a smile on his face.

He's a great kid and deserves it.

They can run whatever story they want, but you're at a TN game, run a TN story. I'm sure they'll be at a FSU game soon enough. Its just weird.

From things I found out yesterday, the decision was made between Thursday night and Friday morning, when the PR department sent out the list of features to be shown this week. The producer didn't even know until late Tuesday night.

The thing of it is, we don't want ESPN never to run the feature--that would hurt more than just AJ. I figure we can abuse GameDay at some other point this year. This weekend should be about forcing a positive image of AJ and #CuckseyStrong onto the Gameday broadcast whether they want to run the story or not. That's why the only thing we're advocating is signs promoting AJ and his work to raise money for kids like him who are battling cancer. With seven brain tumors that cannot be removed, the fact that he thinks of OTHER kids before himself is extraordinary. And that's what we should do too--think of AJ and kids like him, instead of flinging goat poo at the broadcast crew.

Although that would be fun. And oddly satisfying.

If I was Butch, I would tell everyone involved with Tennessee football to only comment on AJ when those SOB's stick a mic in their faces.

When Holly Rowe asks about the 1st half going in to the locker room Butch should change the subject and talk about the kid.

That makes absolutely no sense.
She didn't say don't run a FSU story.
She pointed out how the timing for the Tennessee game lined up perfectly with the Dobbs and AJ story.
And that was already the scheduled programming. It made 100% sense to run the FSU story later.
Like when Gameday inevitably covers them.

I don't think so. Good story. Air it when at a FSU game. That makes sense. Air A J at this game. My best friend has a child with autism and this is s great story I want to see as well. But do not kill either one for the other. Run AJ this week ESpeeonUTn

Battle At Bristol is literally the biggest college football game in history. The whole Cucksey Strong deal is to promote fundraising for the East Tennessee Children's Hospital. And yes, the FSU story is absolutely wonderful too.

Doesn't change the importance of THIS story to East Tennessee and its children.
