Philip Fulmer on ESPN Bowl Coverage

Nothing earth shattering here by all means. Cowherd asked his opinion on some of the bowl games. Fulmer seemed to defend the Big Ten saying something to the affect that Penn State certainly seemed to have a lot of talented players when we played them (Outback Bowl I'm assuming). Colin asked if...

Philip Fulmer on ESPN Bowl Coverage

I know everyone is buzzing about the press conference but Phil is scheduled to be on The Herd last hour of the show. Just thought I would give everyone a heads up.

    OC Job Offered?

NFL.com Blogs Blog Archive Broncos keep QBs coach Bates away from Vols Maybe I've overlooked it, but I have yet to see this posted on here. I'm assuming the job offer Kiffin extended to him was that of Offensive Coordinator? At this point it's irrelevant I suppose but it is interesting...

Fulmer considered retirement after '98 and again after '01.

    Good article. Good find. Thanks.

Lane Kiffin (Head football coach of the University of Tennessee)

I originally thought this would be a reason not to hire Kiffin. I saw Lane as an NFL guy. But on further review, that's not necessarily the case. We all know his dad Monte as the Bucs Defensive Coordinator but he actually spent almost as much time in the college ranks (1966-1982) as he has in...

Lane Kiffin (Head football coach of the University of Tennessee)

Kiffin was making $2 mil. a year with Oakland no? Would he get a raise after being fired with cause? I'm not being a smart aleck, I fully support the guy and feel he is deserving of a salary in the $2-3 million range. Just wondering what you guys thought.

Lane Kiffin (Head football coach of the University of Tennessee)

Another possible candidate to join the staff is David Watson, current USC D-Line coach. He coached with Lane at USC and they actually attended HighSchool together in Minnesota. Here's his profile per the Trojans website Player Bio: David Watson :: Football

Can any of these coaches build a staff?

I believe Woody McCorvey (our former Running Backs coach) is the Offensive Coordinator at Miss. St. I agree with the point you're making though. One man cannot control the actions or performances of 50+ young men. Therefore it is imperative to surround yourself with the right assistants.

Can any of these coaches build a staff?

I'm not saying I wouldn't have....but who's to say Kiffin wouldn't do it again? I believe given Lane's background he will always have an eye on the NFL no matter how much success he has at the college level.

Can any of these coaches build a staff?

Kiffin served as USC's Recruiting coordinator in 2005 and 2006. These classes included Brian Cushing, Rey Maualuga, Patrick Turner, Taylor Mays, David Ausberry, Stafon Johnson, Mark Sanchez, CJ Gable, Emmanuel Moody (currently at Florida) and Allen Bradford among others.

Can any of these coaches build a staff?

I think Kiffin is a great candidate as well. He is a FANTASTIC recruiter and is just the kind of young man that could lead a program in the way Richt and Meyer are currently leading UGa and Florida. However there are two issues I have with hiring Kiffin. 1. Who would he hire to fill out his...

Can any of these coaches build a staff?

Hey guys. I have followed this site for years now a regular basis. And like so many others I have followed even more closely since the announcement that Phillip Fulmer would no longer be our head coach here at UT. Until now I have chosen to simply kick back and read the countless opinions and...
