    Why only March Matters...

Tennessee had a great season. Barnes, his staff, and these players have all been incredible. Nothing should diminish that, even a loss to Wright St. wouldn't have. Sure it sucks, but this tournament isn't about crowning the best team, it's about making money. If the NCAA and the media cared...

Would HH Row B in Neyland be chair back seats?

HH row B is in a box that would have a chairback. So yes. They aren't the nice chairbacks like in the North Upper, but they are boxes with chairbacks in the first two rows of South Uppers.

    Honest and Fair Discussion

There were red flags on Butch before Tennessee hired him. Remember the Cincinnati game against Dooley? Cincinnati had the upper hand early. There were multiple short yard situations, some on 4th down, that TN stopped due to poor play calling. TN couldn't stop the read option that game, but...

    Cortez McDowell injury

I don't want to see anyone get hurt, but this doesn't hurt the defense. Sapp was much more effective. Bituli and Sapp give the defense a chance to make plays at or behind the line of scrimmage. They make our DLine better as they can quickly plug the gaps.

The Official Tennessee vs. Georgia Game Thread, 1:00 PM ET, SEC Network

So much of it comes down to the Freshman. If Bone and Turner play the last three weeks like they did today, this team is in the NCAA Tournament. If Grant Williams plays well today, they probably win today. It's just how it goes with first year players. Next season will be exciting for this...

    Is Fulmer really mad/hurt?

This is Knoxville - home of the good old boy network and crazy politics. The decision was made to give the new Chancellor the authority to make the hire and she did. No one can blame Davenport for this. DiPietro and the BOT mismanaged the PR, timeline, and decision making process from the...

Guess who just bought part of the company that puts in the fields?

    Despite coaching flaws

Excellent post. Totally agree. This team isn't as bad as it seems and still isn't as good as those that say they should be 5-0 if it weren't for the coaches think. The truth lies somewhere in the middle. Saturday is another big opportunity to get over the hump.

Please tell me Jones didn't say this...

I think it's the way Butch talks that is killing him. Everyone sees the progress, and I think everyone wants him to succeed, but he has to stop making himself look and sound like an idiot. He should just quit talking period and let his assistants speak to the media. Jancek, Mahoney, etc...

Inside sources point to Cheek and Hart as the issues

You don't fire a Chancellor over a losing football team. That is just silly, particularly with the new structure. Dave Hart is now a Vice Chancellor. They gave him that title and authority to make him fully responsible for athletics due to Cheek's shortcomings there. I'm all for holding...

Extremely premature coaching candidate discussion (merged)

I think Cutcliffe would be a fantastic hire. Obviously it would be a short term hire, but that is ok. He would do wonders with the talent in the program. I think he could win 10 games year one with these guys. Since he's a TN guy already, you would likely limit the transfers. I think he'd...

    Inky dropping some knowledge

Totally right in terms of marriage, family, job, etc, but the million dollar business of college football is not the same. Plus, this isn't the first sign of adversity with Butch. Heck, the first time he played Florida starting Peterman (and letting him play as long as he did) was the first...

CBS Sports: Butch Jones is in trouble

8-4 even 7-5 and Jones is going nowhere. I'd say unless he has a losing season he's here next year. If I'm Dave Hart and he makes a change, I'd let David Cutcliffe name his price. He gets 5 years. He'd win 10 games with this talent and since he's a TN guy the family would embrace him...

The eyeball test, do they pass it?

This 100%. We have gotten better upfront with some continuity, but our top talent is still very young on both lines. Our most talented DTs are true freshman. Our most talented DEs (with Maggit out) are a true freshman and sophomore. Our most talented OL are several sophomores and true...

    Limited Offensive Playbook?

IMO, this is why Bajakian left. While I don't know the details of his departure, it' pretty obvious after Saturday that this is Butch's offense. I don't necessarily fault the individual playcalling as much as I do some of the philosophies. Butch has the ability to be very innovative, but goes...
