Look for Chapman to join the rotation next year and Homer to work out an extension with the club at some point in the future. Bailey is one of Price's biggest fans.
Some fire would be good no doubt and it's not necessary that it be public. He can set the tone in the locker room internally which is something Dusty wasn't interested in or capable of. He was too much just "one of the guys" which is not something you need or want from your boss.
Price is a good choice and is the safest choice. Time will tell if he was the best and/or right choice.
The only knock I have against him is he is so quiet. I hope he can bring some fire, but time will tell. Glad we could keep him in the organization though. I was impressed with what he was able to do with the pitching staff. Now can he mold the other half?

So who closes?
Major props to Lance on 700, for his interview with Mike Leake. Heres Leake, on SportsTalk last night.
Re being accountable: Kind of what weve been lacking. Dusty is such a players manager, its tough for him to be demanding at times, because he wants to be so liked by everybody.
Re unity: There hasnt been a structure that everyone wants to follow and (for which) everyones been on board. Theres been people pulling in opposite directions, throughout the team. Certain people, they play the way they play. Theres not much fire. The whole team is like that.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but even if Choo and Arroyo walk the Reds payroll would/will remain about the same due to salary increases for guys such as Broxton, Ludwick, and Bailey.
Good point. Yet, Walt said he was going to try and make a deal with Choo, so there must be some flexibility there. Definitely in a period of rising contract comp. He may be packaging the later three you mention - though they will have to eat a bunch of Broxton's if they do. A lot of speculation on Chappy being traded as well.
Really interesting situation.
