Hope you are right and agree 100% on the biggest question being the hitting coach. They have a bunch of guys on the roster that are more like the Cards when they are driving the ball in the gaps. This is not a long ball dependent team. There has to be a different approach, especially with Billy leading off. Hopefully that is the direction they go regardless of personal history with the organization.

He's done some great things as an owner. And I appreciate a lot of what he has done. I was just always under the impression that dusty was still here because of castellini. I know dusty's salary will be hard to eat. 90 wins is not a bad thing at all, but we have potential to be so much better under a manager who can bring a different attitude and mentality.

he already brought dusty back when almost everybody knew he can't win the big one's. that tells me he either doesn't care or he's ignorant one or the other.

Dusty Baker reports to Walt Jocketty and not Castellini. Bob has tried to not micromanage Walt. Believe me he is not happy with this season and will not be afraid to do what he believes is the right thing to do this offseason.

Trust.

Not trying to say I told ya so, but, I told ya so...

Nice prediction. Everything I read up there says the Walt/Dusty relationship was pretty frosty as it was. I prefer an owner that understands the game and business, but gives the authority to his people to run the club.

This season really got me, especially after we passed and the Pirates agreed on the Byrd trade and improved. However, I do respect Walt's baseball acumen and experience. Just have a different viewpoint at times.

They totally restored my confidence in their commitment to winning. My checkbook will be open in the spring.

Sometimes they float a name out there to throw the media off the scent. With that PR black eye Riggleman got in 2011 after he quit it would surprise me to see WJ lay all the eggs in that basket even with the past relationship. Job killer for Walt if it didn't work.

Reds first baseman Joey Votto eyes return to MVP Award form | reds.com: News

Votto is taking heat for this. Rationalization can be ugly. Still don't mean ownership, Walt and the new manager won't light him up over the off season to get his role right. Dude forgets he got the deuce and a quarter extension for the production of 37 HRs and 113 RBIs with a good BA/OBP with good D. Getting one or two out of the five doesn't bring the "value" he is trying to sell the public, much less the wins. Hopefully he will move past this and go to work.

We need someone who will make sure there is an attitude adjustment in the clubhouse. It became much to relaxed and laid back down there. I think O'Neill would bring this for sure.

Will always remember Paul O'Neil for one play. Bottom of the 9th (can't remember opponent) man on 3rd with 1 out. Batter hits line drive to right field and O'Neil thinks the runner will score so he kicks the ball. The runner at 3rd freezes because all he sees is the ball in the air and he knows O'Neil has a gun. Reds get out of the inning and I believe went on to win the game.

Guerrero moving to second would be interesting if he is what the scouts are claiming. The Dodgers obviously thought so. Good history with Hispanic players in Cincy. Cozart and him would be nearly interchangeable in the middle. Or they could go after Reyes and shake up the Frazier/Cozart side. Going to be interesting. Even if they keep BP, he has got to know that the tipping point has been reached on his behavior.

More production vs $$ than behavior.

ironic given how much hate Votto receives in this thread for that same equation, and how loved Philips seems to be.
