Da Reds thread

Votto - better OBP, runs scored
Freeman - better BA, RBI (36 more), SLG

Defense - Freeman 4 less errors and we know JV got some friendly scoring decisions or it would not have been that close.

Both are key players on playoff teams.

Votto: 2013 comp is $18.9 million
Freeman: 2013 comp is $560,000

Rest my case until 2014. It is what it is.

Absurd and worthless comparison.

Chris Heisey makes more this year than Mike Trout. Think on that.

why should he. getting paid 22.5 mil to underachieve he is great guy. oh well see you all next season. it all ends tonight.

Fingers are crossed that if we lose that this is the last game dusty manages, but unfortunately castellini will see the 90 wins and attendance record and do nothing.

With all due respect, you don't have a clue what you're talking about. As someone who knows Bob personally, you couldn't be more wrong in your opinion about him.

Like I said I know him personally. He's as much of a fan as you and I. Believe that.

That's all I'll say.

He's done some great things as an owner. And I appreciate a lot of what he has done. I was just always under the impression that dusty was still here because of castellini. I know dusty's salary will be hard to eat. 90 wins is not a bad thing at all, but we have potential to be so much better under a manager who can bring a different attitude and mentality.

he already brought dusty back when almost everybody knew he can't win the big one's. that tells me he either doesn't care or he's ignorant one or the other.

Dusty Baker reports to Walt Jocketty and not Castellini. Bob has tried to not micromanage Walt. Believe me he is not happy with this season and will not be afraid to do what he believes is the right thing to do this offseason.

Trust.

I'm not arguing that, but if Castellini wanted him to stay or go it wouldn't matter what Jocketty wanted. But I like that you say he is upset about this year. Nice to know we are watching the same train wreck. That's what we need is some people up top to get a little upset. I'm not happy just winning 90 games and sucking it up in the playoffs. But on the other hand outsiders would see firing a 90 game winning manager as lunacy.

Mr. Castellini is not concerned at all about what outsiders think. I can promise you that.

The playoffs are a complete crapshoot. I understand Dusty sucks but Jocketty has done a wonderful job with that team. You have enough to win the WS , just like the Braves do. It all depends on breaks and who gets hot.

I agree. A lot of these guys have been under dusty their entire major league careers. Just makes you wonder what a different leader could do differently to change it up. Different knowledge, way to teach, or go about things. Just don't want to see everything jocketty and castellini have done to build up this club go to waste. As for the playoffs you're also correct. But this team has been flatlining for months and very rarely seem to get excited. I hope that changes tonight.

While I agree with what you're saying in regards to getting hot I will say that this Reds team is wildly inconsistent at the dish. A lot of that is due to their approach and much of it comes directly from Dusty. They haven't strung together many winning streaks all year because inevitably they'll literally stop hitting for long periods. Everyone save Votto and Choo has the same approach and that is to be a free swinger. We, as Reds fans have watched it all year and in reality there is no reason to believe it's going to change with Dusty at the helm.
