Da Reds thread

Guerrero moving to second would be interesting if he is what the scouts are claiming. The Dodgers obviously thought so. Good history with Hispanic players in Cincy. Cozart and him would be nearly interchangeable in the middle. Or they could go after Reyes and shake up the Frazier/Cozart side. Going to be interesting. Even if they keep BP, he has got to know that the tipping point has been reached on his behavior.

As in Jose Reyes? Really?

I see no chance the Reds would take on a SS at the back end of his prime and pay him almost $18mil a year.

ironic given how much hate Votto receives in this thread for that same equation, and how loved Philips seems to be.

This is actually a good point because Phillips was AWFUL the last few months of the season. I believe he had 4 rbis in September and his average had been tumbling for a while but you never really heard much about it.

He's declined offensively the last two years.

I am still amazed at the Votto lovers that comment on here, especially from fans of other teams. Yet, despite my best attempts, no takers in exchange for their best player. Everybody seems to think an OBP guy with 73 RBI's and a .163 RISP with 2 outs (IIRC) making $20+ mill as your best hitter with terrible D and poor base running is OK. They still think he is the guy that he appeared to be pre-injury.

The talk today per NBC sports is about the Braves wanting BP. Since he is from there he could play out the string and retire at home. I guess they would - the Reds would get Uggla and a top prospect. If this deal would happen it would stink to high heaven.

I really don't care anymore. I just want the drama over and a real team to emerge with real leadership.

A top prospect for that contract?????? Whatever.

Oh, SSS on Votto. .300 average with RISP this season.

Brandon Phillips was a barely average offensive player this year and has four years left on a $70M contract and you want a top prospect with him? Are you stoned?

well at least he can't be any worse than dusty.lol

The only knock I have against him is he is so quiet. I hope he can bring some fire, but time will tell. Glad we could keep him in the organization though. I was impressed with what he was able to do with the pitching staff. Now can he mold the other half?

Look for Chapman to join the rotation next year and Homer to work out an extension with the club at some point in the future. Bailey is one of Price's biggest fans.

Some fire would be good no doubt and it's not necessary that it be public. He can set the tone in the locker room internally which is something Dusty wasn't interested in or capable of. He was too much just "one of the guys" which is not something you need or want from your boss.

Price is a good choice and is the safest choice. Time will tell if he was the best and/or right choice.
