And if it was about that, any release would work. Now that he's pretty much trying to blackmail Dooley through the media, we know his heart actually lies with not having to sit a year while transferring to a BCS team and not with his father.yes,he wrote a long letter to the media and sent a picture of his sick father with displaying his catheter.
The main reason DA is leaving is because of his brother. His brother has been working behind the scenes with one particular school since CBB left. He will not be able to attend that school unless he pays his own way the first year. Im sure more will come out as time goes on.
His brother, was the main person pushing him to Tennessee last year.
Any kid, in any program should have the right to transfer if he no longer feels the program is a good fit.
If you recruit the kid and he gets to campus and finds that he is unhappy, why would you want that kid around. Every college coach sells a kid on
1) family values
2) the school is a great place
3) We are going to treat you better than anyone else
d) you are gonna get soooooooooooo laid
And of course the football stuff.
If the kid isnt happy, he is not happy. You either fish, or cut bait. Why would you want a kid around that doesnt want to be here. And if you dont give him a release to a NON SEC school, then how are you looking out for the kids best interests.
He is not looking to transfer to Bama, or USCsr, or Florida. He wants to go home. And that should be all a coach needs to know.
At age 18 you're an adult. He made a commitment.
Commitment definition: " an agreement or pledge to do something in the future; especially : an engagement to assume a financial obligation at a future date. "
He pledged to be a vol for four years. A circumstance came up to where he wishes to not value his commitment anymore. Therefore, there are stipulations.
Its just how life is. If you don't make a stance on Arnett, then what's going to stop someone from making up a lie to leave?
An adult can buy beer. Can Arnett? 18 is not adult. It does DD no good with recruits to be like this. All he does is make life harder for confused kids. And at least one time his approach may have helped cause a bad ending for a kid.
He needs to leave the law degree home and coach kids. Sometimes "coach" means to help them succeed no matter where.

I can see both sides of this issue; and I would like to make the following observations:
1. If the Vols had kept Baggett and had a winning season like Michigan or Michigan State then I suspect that Arnett would not be requesting a transfer.
2. Arnett needs to stop wining to the media about not getting his way and go back to the eight grade to learn proper English grammar.
3. Dooley needs to educate all of his players on his policies and rules soon after the letter of intent has been signed.
4. Arnett needs to look at attending a Junior College for a season then be re-recruited if he wants to play for MSU or Michigan.

Anyone remember that Vimeo video that he and his brother made of his recruiting process? I can't find it, but if I remember correctly, he said in the video that he didn't have a relationship with his dad.

You can't blame him for wanting to be with his father. This wont look good for other recruits either. How can a coach expect a kid to come out and play when he don't even want to be there? Or keep him from his father. Yet let BB go in a more stupid situation
