Wonder if we're waiting on Banks to interview other places before we can him. No buyout required if he leaves on his own accord.
Seems plausible. Knowing Heup’s personality he would rather it be that way instead of having to fire Banks. More of a mutual parting of ways. Looks better on Banks’ resume as well.

Lol the ultimate cherry pick.

You're really going to say 2022 defense was good because you found one good stat out of a hundred bad ones?
Huh? Scoring defense is now a cherry picked stat? What matters more?

Outside of the USCjr debacle, what stands out?

Alabama was poor, but somehow gritty at the right time lol. Gave up 42 to the reigning Heisman and a team we hadn't beaten in 15 years.

The good:

Held ranked LSU and future Heisman to just 13 points on the road. Held ranked UK to SIX points. Held Dabo/Clemson and their demigod kid QB to 13 points. Went off on them. Shut out Vandy. Florida only had 21 pts with the game locked up and under 5 mins remaining. They also kept us within reaching distance vs UGA on an awful offensive night.

Fwiw we ranked even better if you only compare vs SEC, FBS, or P5 opps (4th in the SEC).

Yeah... 2 NFL corners doesn't completely change your scheme...uhm it does...😅🤣We couldn't do what we hoped to schematically, all season. Defense wasn't built to stuff the rest, it was built around the studs.

Stop joshin' around.
Corners weren’t on the line of scrimmage or at the safety level
Banks sucks
Last year his stats weren’t good either against the good teams
Even Arky had over 400 against us

I have spoken with multiple people over the past few days about who could be the DC under Franklin, and I have heard these two names more than any others (please don't shoot the messenger)

Tim Banks - Tennessee

Brent Pry
-VT 247

Among the names that On3 continues to hear about the most to be James Franklin’s defensive coordinator are Penn State’s Anthony Poindexter, former Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry and Tennessee’s Tim Banks.

Idk what’s more frustrating with banks:

The lack of in game adjustments?
The run defense?
Terrible safety play?
Absolutely no depth?
Never spying running qb?

All of the above is the correct answer ^
Can't quanitfy the others, but imagine having a top-2 rushing defense in the SEC 3 years running prior to this year...

This was his 1st season not in the top 6. Finished 1 spot behind Bama.

For comparison, average run defense ranking in the SEC since 2021:

UGA - 3.8
UT - 4.4
Bama - 5.4

Woe is us!

Also think part of that was the Rodney Garner effect with the DLine. DLine helped tremendously with run defense. This year was probably the 1 “down” year for them in that regard.

My issues with Banks is that he doesn’t seem to scheme or playcall well or adjust. It’s especially obvious against competent OC’s.
